Foam in the air filter?

I changed my air filter after 24k km and I found a bunch of foam pieces stuck in there... Anyone have any ideas what it could be before I take it all apart?

Maybe a mouse or something tore it up?

Well that's odd, but a very common story here at my Honda dealership in Toronto. Squirrels, lots of em played around inside the engine bays of several customer cars lol...it's all fun and games until they chew up all the damn wires inside. Careful where you park your car! May be time to find another parking spot haha

Looks similar to the foam used around the radiator for sealing,
which would also make sense since the snorkel intake tub thingy sits pretty close to it.

You may have to pull the bumper to see it.

Isn't there also foam around where the airbox meets the snorkel?

I'll pull the bumper soon then to see exactly where it's pulling this foam from. Thanks for all the help guys!

Belly button fluff.. Perhaps the mechanic has been cleaning his belly button standing too close to the air intake..

This 100% I can guarantee that's where it is from.

Sure would seem to be. That the foam is so badly torn up would indicate that either the snorkel or the box was moving around a fair bit. Need to make sure everything is tight.

Interesting... I haven't taken apart the airbox before or touched anything around it besides replacing it yesterday. Thanks for help!

Well at least you didn't find cigarette butts in there like I did. Apparently it makes a great vacuum cleaner when going down the highway.
