I dont think any aftermarket unit fits perfectly, since Toyota uses a wider than normally double din.

I could be wrong but any aftermarket unit I saw requires a kit to hide the gaps

True, except I think Kenwood makes a double-din wide model (I don't think it's available in NA though). There is a thread about it somewhere...

I don't mind any small gaps. I just want the highest quality unit that's going to fit the best and perform the best. Any thought on Pioneer units??

It's not so much the gaps that are the problem, as it is the dash kit itself. The plastic doesn't come close to matching the OEM plastic and is obviously not OEM.

I too have the Pioneer 8400BH, and like it so far. I've always been a fan of the brand admittedly... Here's a night pic to show that you can match it up to the lighting quite well. The buttons are the stock amber color while the text is white and red. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1342747328.290044.jpg

This unit does not have navi stock tho. You add it on or use an iPhone.
