old news but can we discuss the supercharged grmn Yaris
http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-show...adorable-hoot/
I know this is old news, but I just don't understand this at all, why would you supercharge a Yaris before you supercharged a built from the ground up sports car with a huge demand for forced induction we can all agree a factory supercharged gt86/brz would be the best thing since sliced bread - I suppose there was the grmn gt86 but like that was only sold in Japan where as this is going to be sold in various countries, it also had that ugly wing, stupid plexiglass and ugly bonnet and also a supercharged 86 that looks stock would probably be what the majority of people would want, perhaps they could add a badge that says supercharged and have some subtle differences - also this yaris would have a load of competition, and its probably not even going to be as good as the fiesta st, whereas what would be a competitor to a supercharged gt86 a cayman? that costs 4 times as much?! I mean you could literally charge double the price of a regular gt86 and there would be people who would buy it, Im not saying that should be done, just saying there would still be interest |

There is no "huge demand" for supercharged 86. How can it be? Toyota 86 is not selling more than few hundred a month.
I am not sure about "sliced bread" but I agree that supercharged 86/BRZ is great by experience. Go get your favorite kit and have it properly installed without going greedy to get 300+ whp. It will be as good, if not better, compared to "would be" factory install. Again, this is based on experience. You want a badge? Here is mine ![]() |

The Yaris is 500 pounds lighter than the 86, and if you take out the rear seats and stuff you can easily get it to 2000 pounds. A Yaris has won H production in SCCA and came close to winning a few other years. Also note the Yaris is the #1 selling car in the UK and Europe, and has been for a long time.
The Yaris is an awesome platform that just needs a suspension swap and some lightweight stuff to be an amazingly fun car. There is no reason for Toyota or Subaru to risk a factory supercharged 86 when there are bunches of companies that will do it in the aftermarket. Note that in Europe they cannot add the new engine mods because of noise or some such other bullshit regulations. |

The Yaris sells better than the 86 and it has had OEM forced induction in the past as well.

They are only building a couple hundred of the GRMN Yarii anyway. It is essentially a homologation special. It also isn't coming to the USA.
