STI Short Throw Shifter now available for MY17+

SOA announced today the release of an STI short throw shifter for MY17-18 BRZs. It's available now as a port-installed accessory, so it's street-class legal in autocross. Part number is C1010CA100 and it retails for $395.

Is it any different than the JDM short shifter for the 13-16 BRZ?

Dunno to be honest. Doubt it, but I'll look into it when I have time next week.

I wonder if the tS will come with this standard. I actually love the stock shifter, but hopefully I have a chance to try this out. Standard or not, it would be kind of nice to have this on the tS to fit the "bolt-on STI parts" theme.

I'll bet a dollar it IS the JDM shifter. Looks the same, same price, even same box.

Just placed an order from Subaru Parts for You. I'm willing to bet a more JDM STI accessories will be available due to the 2018 tS

@illmatic did you install the shifter yet? Curious about your impressions.

I'm experiencing the rattle in my shifter. I am thinking getting one of these short shifters to get rid of my problem. Not sure to go for the STI or the US TRD kit which is much cheaper.

the US TRD is not a true short shifter. I'd say go with the STI for sure.

I got it installed from the dealership on my '17 BRZ. Its great, significant difference than the stock shifter, feels firmer and much more responsive. Had some buddies check it out at the South Bay meet a few weeks back, they would agree, great improvement,

I've never tried a short shifter before. I keep thinking the shorter shifting action would somehow be less satisfying.
