Toyota aluminum tape?

Was browsing automesse.jp and came across an article I was sure was just satire. Use auto translate in chrome or other.

https://www.webcartop.jp/2017/01/63354

Quote:
"Toyota announced the aluminum tape at the timing of last year's 86 model change. By pasting this on the car, it is an item that can bring out the original performance that the car has, such as aerodynamic improvement. It became a hot topic on the net, showing a fever that the aluminum tape disappears from Toyota dealers and home centers."
So, Toyota is selling aluminum tape for owners to put on various parts, claiming to reduce electrostatic buildup around the car which they claim results in better stability. I started to laugh as this was definitely a joke, but then reading around it seems that they are serious about it, and actually stock the aluminum tape parts on toyota/lexus parts websites.

The patent info: https://www.google.com/patents/EP3064416A1?cl=en

Theories about how or why this is working aside, I wonder if any of it has to do with laminar flow and speeding up the rate at which air is travelling across the smooth surface. (i.e. what if it's not aluminum/conductive?)

Fun fact: This is actually implemented in some production North American Toyotas.

Whether it actually works or not... can be argued with the R&H guys for months (if not years).

Actually, if you duct-tape buttered toast butter-side-up to a cat and drop it, it will hover. (Butter side toast always falls butter side down, while cats of course always land on their feet- so the two together cancel out gravity)

Therefore, substituting four butter-toast cats for your tires should make a very effective anti-gravity 86.

Does anyone have a part number for the Toyota, or TRD "fork" style sticker?
