super noobie question

Can someone explain difference between a "catted" and "catless" header?
Doesn't the catalytic converter (and the rest of the exhaust) come sequentially AFTER the exhaust header?? If so, what does it mean to have a catless header?

Is the stock header catted or catless?

And speaking of which, are most (all?) of the 3rd party EL and UEL headers talked about here catted or catless? For example, Borla, JDL, OpenFlash, etc.

Ignorance is not bliss in this case!
Thx.

There are two cats. One in the header, one in the front pipe.
Stock is catted. Most aftermarket are catless.

To help with the above explanation and diagram.

The OEM header has a cat built on at the end of it. So, it's "catted".

(the fat part in the picture below is the cat.)

I was expecting a 'super noobie' question like:

1. How to check the oil level using OEM dipstick?
2. What are the little square tiles on my wheels?
3. How to install a sunroof or chop the roof?
