Are these e flash tunes safe?
I am debating on whether i should get a dyno tune, or an e tune. Ever since i took off the turbo, I felt that lack of power and was considering an NA tune. Only mods still on the car are the headerback exhaust, the panel filter, and exedy stg 2 clutch but they feel like nothing without a tune. I was leaning towards an e85 tune from ft86speefactory mostly because of the price. I would like to know who is running one and how reliable it is for an e tune. If not that great, I know of this shop that does pretty good tunes on these cars but for like 300 more than the e tune

The fastest and safest tune is on a dyno; you could probably feel the power if you put that turbo back where it should be.

I'm using OTS Stage 2 OFT currently; I had an E-Tune but my my supercharger failed before I was done. Kind of wished I had dyno tuned it in an hour and been done with it.

For NA the difference in power between your typical one-day dyno tune and an e-tune will be too small to notice. A waste of time and money.
Dyno only makes sense for NA if you're really going to dial it in over several sessions -- these are the vendors posting "200whp with just a header". And yes, e-tune are safe . Probably safer than most dyno tunes, because they are naturally a little conservative.

Were lucky on Oz as our E85 is actually 85% ethanol. In USA it can apparently vary from pump to pump from 50% to 90% that's a little outside the range of what an E85 tune without a flex kit can cope with. If your in an area where the ethanol percent stays between 60-90 then you generally ok with an NA car without a full flex fuel system. but you probably still ant to be able to switch between petrol and E85 without reflashing. The moto East guys do a 4 map switch tune that has maps for 91/93 petrol and E40-E50/E70-E85 ethanol fuels. they are 299 http://www.moto-east.com/store/subar...oecu-tune.html configure here http://www.moto-east.com/store/subar...figurator.html probably the way to go if you already have ecutek cable and licience. full flex kit better but going to cost considerably more. |

Get an OFT tune and you are done. I don't think there is any shop that has tested their dyno-tune so much. |
