Subaru Boxer Burble Anyone?.. :)

Stumbled upon this....seems the closest thing to a Boxer Rumble.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU-ebYV-scg"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU-ebYV-scg[/ame]
Still not sure if they have change the headers to UEL.

its got the burble when revved low...but sounds normal when being floored.

The boxer rumble happens at all levels of throttle. All EL headers still have a bit of rumble at idle due to the boxer being a boxer, but the noise everyone wants is during acceleration and normal driving, which will only come from UEL.

based on this pic , I can safely say its not an unequal length.

http://www.tune86.com/sites/default/...ow_2011_72.jpg

its actually a 4-2-1 manifold. this is THE reason why the car doesnt have the traditional Boxer rumble.

not trying to be a jerk or anything. I thought they were EL as well until Nameless told me there was a 30% difference in length after they pulled them off and measured them.

ah okay....but it isnt the traditional UEL you'll find on old STi's/Subarus. just comparing it to my '04 STi.
is the length difference alot on the BRZ UEL?..

EDIT: just saw the 30%.....to get more rumble I assume the difference should be much higher.

From what I heard, the bends are pretty different on the STI/WRX headers compared to the BRZ. Maybe that has an impact on the sound- something about the BRZ being more 180 degree type bends, whereas the Impreza has 90 degree bends.

I believe Jason told me the runner lengths have a 30% difference in length. Their header setup is about .08% difference in length, just about equal.

So maybe it's header design that contributes to the rumble, or maybe just the motor itself. Or both.
