BRZ Ts - Not the STI we wanted?
Subaru just released news for the 2018 BRZ Ts. Thoughts?

I'm assuming the rear diffusuer isn't any different? Just an added pin stripe.

I like the tS, and if I was buying new all over again, I'd probably get one. Less initial modding with a similar result to get the car to my tastes.
For me a tS would need a tune/header/e85/Brake fluid/pads & camber bolts. Later on a set of track wheels/tires and that's about it. |

Basically everything I've already done to my '13. I mean, it's a great starting point if you were never going to modify your car. But in all honestly the money spent could go towards some more focused mods on a lesser model.

Considering the STi version that people say they want would probably run $40K, I'm happy with mine. If I were buying new right now a '17 PP would be ideal, but I'm not going to be trading my '14 in on one.

I am really disappointed that my Edelbrock Supercharged BRZ is not obsolete...I know...I didn't really think they were going to turbocharge the 2018. Still sad, though. How much will this thing retail for?

if it goes for 40k,
you can grab a 2014-2016 for around 20-25k and have another 15k left for mods! you can build a way better/faster car in the end. |

I think as an out of the box toy it's a great addition to the line up. Being able to buy a car with the mods that I would do anyway I think is a positive thing especially for those who are new to the platform.
I still think there was room to improve the vehicle but I'm sure Subaru's bean counters are trying to get a feeler on the demand for these limited production vehicles before they bring in the expensive highly modified vehicles. I still think that something like the Toyota 14R60 would be an absolute hit in North America though, they would take my money instantly |

Honestly this should have just been a bunch of dealer options or a parts catalog instead of a full trim. Sounds like everything is more or less bolt on replacements. The biggest news is that Subaru will finally sell you a brz with a decent set of stock tires.
I want to here the back to back comparisons to the 17 pp cars. I speculate that the difference will be marginal at best. |

While I agree they should be catalogue parts as well being able to buy them all in one package benefits the consumer if the consumer plans on getting all those parts anyway. If it's like all the other special editions you will save a bit of money compared to ordering the parts separate for the sport tech. Also come time for insurance if you add the dealer installed options separately then it's technically modifying the vehicle, by getting a specific model designation all those additional pieces would be covered and indemnified.
