Is the Invidia N1 tolerable with the silencers?
I've been thinking about changing the exhaust on my car to have a little more sound. But I like the low key nature of the factory sound. I work in a professional environment and I don't want to announce that I'm arriving in the office or leaving early if you get what I mean... A local 86 owner is selling his N1 and I know these are known for being a little loud but I wanted to know if with the silencers in is it reasonable? I don't mind taking them out for autox events, car meets, etc. but I need a little civility for my everyday life?
Before offering other exhaust opinions, stop... I'm not gonna order anything else, this is local and cheap. It's a simple go no-go desicion. Thanks! |

Quiet enough or not is very subjective thing. If he has it still mounted, BEST would be for you to go listen in person. Advices from others or some youtube clips won't be good enough.

If you don't wanna get attention by having a loud exhaust then stick with the stock. Or buy a different brand like Q300 or a Perrin Resonated. Yuh, I know you didn't wanna hear about other brands.Just my 2 cents!

Yeah, I know sound is very subjective. And it would be good to hear it, but he's kinda far.

Then if it's too much hassle to check in person, just follow generic consensus. According to that - for many this exhaust seems on loud side. So - no go.

Aside from the usual "you need to hear it person," I would say that with the silencers it is absolutely reasonable if not mandatory for longer trips. They look kinda goofy though imo
The N1 has an insane drone between 3-4K and is quite loud at cold start. If it's cheap enough, buy it and try it. If you don't like it you could always resell for the same price if it's cheap enough - that's what I did cause I thought I wanted loud but I was so wrong lol Make no mistake, it is one of the louder more drone-y catbacks available for this car. Also, if you're considering any further mods i would imagine it's borderline unbearable - again, depending on your preference. w/ silencers ![]() w/o silencers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Even with the silencer, the cold start is definitely going to attract attention. If you want something civilized, I'd also recommend the Perrin 2.5" resonated. Also, there's almost unbearable drone with the N1 in my opinion.

Invidia N1 is one of the loudest exhausts for any application I've heard (that's not a straight pipe of course).
Silencers can be painted to make them less obvious, but I don't really see the point of getting it if that's the case as it would likely flow less than factory at that point... |

If your concerned get the Q300 or Perrin resonated. I have the Q300 and only loud if you get on it, otherwise its pretty quiet. But it will get louder when I do the headers, but I will keep a cat on this thing.

I had N1 before, but I didnt like it whether it is with silencer (too quiet)or without silencer (too loud).
It was too loud, and sold after 6months. |

I'd go with Perrin or Q300 if you want something quiet. I've got the Perrin 2.5 resonated on my car and its only slightly louder than stock but if I get on it I can somewhat hear it.

For perrin of course worth noting down that 2.5" and resonated is worth to get for reasonable loudness. All perrins are not made equal and 3" unresonated .. might be something else then expected
