Black badges for '17 86?
So apparently Toyota changed the badge size and the black badge kits don't fit the '17 86. I don't like chrome anywhere on the car, so it's a quest to find OEM-ish black badge set. Front is 4.5" wide, rear is 3.5" wide. Don't have part numbers for OEM badges yet - 2017s are not showing up in parts catalogs yet, so can't match it to other Toyotas to extend the search.
Anyone had any luck or am I the weirdo wanting to replace those?

Yeah, if the alternative is $70 or spraypaint, I might go for spraypaint.

I did 3 coats, 15 mins between coats, 1 hour before peeling. Edges came away clean but I tried not to get a thick coat around the corners, mostly spraying top down with light coats from each side to make sure the chrome was covered.
I don't know if you care about the fender garnish but it required more coats, 5 I think, to get a nice coverage. The spray can was also getting pretty light so probably wasn't coating as thick. The edges pulled the first time (right side) but I lightly touched it up with a paint brush. The left side I removed the paper straight after the final coat while it was wet to prevent pulling. The inner parts (vents) I just shifted the paper inwards a bit so the edges moved away and then removed it completely once it was dry. I'll be doing it again after I get an opti-coat so I might do up a quick DIY next time. |

Seems like FT86SpeedFactory has updated 2017 badges now.
