Can you not have *both* rear speakers and sub both powered?

As stated in title, I've got it hooked up and the sub sounds great. However, it sounded pretty before installing the sub so I was checking each speaker for operation before putting everything back together and noticed the back speakers no longer seem to be powered--you can barely hear them.

I then noticed an extra connector on the OEM-supplied harness (this is the 'OEM' 10" powered Kicker sub). Is it the case that you can either have the sub powered, or the rear speakers powered, but not both?

I honestly have no idea how the OEM sub works, but it might have a LOC on the rear speaker signal that's causing that behavior. although typically a LOC solution takes bass signal from the front speakers.

Does the sub stay active if you fade to front entirely? rear entirely?
also try setting fade to rear entirely, then remove the OEM sub harness and reconnect the radio straight through. any change in behavior?

Again IDK how it works as I don't have one, but those kind of steps can help you figure it out.

Maybe someone else with the OEM kicker can answer but IDK, I don't see info on them very often.

Thanks for the response.

It's odd--if I leave second smaller harness (that goes into back of radio) unplugged, system works but no rear sound. If I plug-in the plug from supplied kicker harness, there's no sound at all anywhere. If I plug in the factory 'small connector' I get rear sound that I can't be sure is 'factory normal' or not.

The sub works in all of these cases except plugging in the second Kicker-harness plug, when as stated above, I get no sound at all.

I did indeed bypass the sub by going back to all factory connectors yesterday, and it all worked. Fade to rear and sound was meh but it very well could be imagination bc front sound so good. But in summary yes, bypassing sub by using all factory wiring yielded an entirely functional sound system.

So really at this point, I'm just confused why the dealer-supplier kicker harness that clearly says 'Plug in to radio' makes the entire system stop working when I do. And secondly, I want to make sure that due to that issue, the system isn't limited/gimped somehow. It sounds very good to me, but I'm not an audiophile.

Also, the hardware given to secure the sub is terrible.

Are they RCA cable / plugs or speaker cables that you're plugging into the sub from the deck?
