spike021's BRZ Adventures

After waiting since about 2013, saving up money, and finishing college I am now the proud owner of this beauty:

The car is completely stock. It's a 2017 BRZ with the Performance Package.

I currently don't really have any mods planned because I need to learn how to drive the thing first (never driven stick before picking this up ), and once I can drive it properly I want to try the stock experience for a while.

I think I'll use this thread to also document the "learning manual transmission" experience if I remember to, so that whenever someone posts a re-hash of the usual "should I get a manual twin if I can't drive stick?" question, me or someone else can point them here as an example of someone who started from scratch, or really whatever comes even before scratch.

Oh yeah, and if anyone wants to follow our adventures (hopefully some drives on back roads eventually), then follow me on my car's IG at: https://www.instagram.com/spike.86/

Installed mods so far:

Aero
Drambeenie Spoiler Risers
STI front aero lip
TRD Kouki sideskirts (JDM/AUDM only)
TRD front bumper canards (JDM)
TRD "Nurspec" rear spats/pods (AUDM, JDM)

Engine
Perrin Inlet Tube / sound generator delete
Nameless Performance axleback, 2.5" inlet, 5" mufflers
JDL UEL catted headers
Delicious Tuning Flex Fuel Kit
Ecutek tune

Body/suspension
Grimmspeed strut tower brace
RCE Yellows
SPL Rear Lower Control Arms
Camber bolts in front

Wheels and tires
Rays Gramlights 57DR, 17x9+38
Continental ExtremeContact Sports, 245/40/17

Brakes
Brembo Brake Kit (from Performance Package)
Endless Super Street S-sport pads

Exterior Misc.

Valenti jewel sidemarkers, amber with clear housing
Valenti fourth brake light, red lens wiith clear housing

Interior Misc.

Did you seriously just curb your wheel already on the 2nd day of ownership?

Ouch. Well, in a way, this is good. It got it's first battle scar and now you don't have to be so hyper critical of everything that happens to it!

At least you didn't react like I did when I curbed my Enkei (lip AND spoke) and had a mini mental breakdown over it.

Yeah.. You don't know the story but basically it was my first time really driving manual with it back from the dealer. Had some issues and when I parked I wasn't as careful as I should've been :\

I actually didn't realize how bad it was

Is something like this able to be fixed at all or am I screwed?

Maybe a service like this? Not sure how they get the color match right, but they have very good reviews.

Edit: Most recent review isn't good :/

But yes, repairing it is an option.

Ehh, probably won't be driving the car into SF for a long time if I can help it. But maybe I can find something similar.

I'll go check it out again later when I'm home. Hoping that this picture just made it look worse than it is.

I think it's a mobile service where they come to you.

Nice new car! That curb really sucks but it happens to the best of us. It hurts even more so because it's a brand new car, but at least that damage is very easily repairable and shouldn't cost you too much to get it done. That being said, if your future plans are to go into the aftermarket department, then perhaps just live with the damage for the time being. I know, it's hard...

Seems like they have a good rep as well. Make sure you don't just go with 'any' shop, as there are too many hacks in the wheel repair business. The damage you have is an easy repair, but get a good shop to do it.
