Moto-East: Nothing but good things to say.
I have a 2013 10 Series that I've been slowly turning into a Drift slut, I'm not power hungry but I wanted to have enough power to slide the car with ease. I'm glad I learned to momentum drift before adding a turbo kit, but man oh man does a turbo make everything better.
I originally bought the SBD kit and had my car tuned via OpenFlash. It was a great way to start, but I couldn't help but feel that my hands were tied behind my back. Shiv is a great guy, but hes busy and there are limitations to what the Openflash can do, and the fact that you're basically bound to one tuner short of learning to do so yourself, it can feel a bit uneasy. This year I wanted to do everything I could with the stock motor; bigger injectors, fuel pump, flex fuel, changing over to an EBCS etc.. Through reading on the forums and talking to others I couldn't think of a better solution than to give Moto-East a try. They have one of the nicest flex fuel kits on the market IMO, and being able to order everything right through them and they be the ones to tune it, a one stop shop just always makes you feel good. I really have to hand it to Phil, during the process I asked him a lot of questions, mainly about timeline, what was needed from me, whether I should E-Tune or make the drive down and go on the Dyno etc. Phil actually tried to talk me out of the Dyno at first telling me id be damn close with an E-Tune, but after telling him I did want to squeeze all the power out of my car as well as having multiple boost maps for when I'm drifting (mainly to keep the car "safe") he said maybe the Dyno would be the best route for me. The Moto-East flex fuel kit is amazing and extremely simple to install. It looks great where it sits and really if you can plug your vacuum into the wall, you can probably install this flex fuel kit. It really doesn't require much direction. Now, as I said before a big thanks to Phil. I try REALLY hard not to be that guy that constantly badgers people for work/pricing/etc unless I am absolutely serious. I also don't like being that guy that expects service at 1AM on a Saturday night, however phil had offered to double check my fuel pump work and asked that I send a picture, in doing so it sparked some conversation and when I was ready to start my car I realized that my ECUTek license had not been applied. He didn't have to but phil went ahead and set me up to make sure I could test my car, I was on a tight deadline as it was Saturday night, i still had work to do and had the Dyno on Monday. This is good customer service, he never once sounded angry or uninterested, just made a point that it was 11PM and to double check these things during normal hours to ensure responses. My car fired right up.... To be quite honest, I wasn't really expecting much from my base map. My original map from the OFT wasn't great, and even when Shiv said it was "done" I had little hiccups that despite sending him logs I could never quite figure out. Overall it was great but never quite felt 100%. The car ran great on the basemap, definitely rich but very smooth and honestly once I knew it was safe, i booted it and the base map felt just as quick as my Openflash Tune and with that base pull I made about 280whp I took the 3 1/2 Drive down to Moto-East yesterday to get it dialed in on the Dyno. I finally got to meet and really talk with mike and hes one hell of a great guy, very polite, great sense of humor and never once seemed like he was bothered by my presence or my questions. He did a great job of explaining what he was doing, and being realistic with me about my car and what it would and would not do... Unfortunately I was silly and never confirmed if I should have shown up with 93 or E85 in the tank, so with a quarter tank of 93 and little time to spare for anyone all around, we decided to just fill it up with as much ethanol as we could and work on it from there. Mike assured me while i may not see the absolute best number, from a tuning standpoint it would be spot on. A few pulls later and my car me 378WHP and 299TQ on E57. I cannot tell you how happy I am with that, Mike seemed pretty confident it would make ~380WHP on a tank of E85, I think we were all a little happy to see it make that on E57 with a little more room to spare. The car feels absolutely amazing, no hiccups, no hesitations, the power is extremely linear as it comes on thanks to the EBCS and it just pulls and pulls and pulls.. I really can't thank the Moto-East guys enough, i would never hesitate to recommend them to anyone. |
