Does this sound right?
I just need someone more seasoned to tell me I should be good or if I'm off.
I'm ordering work cr kai wheels next weekend. There 18x8.5 +38 I've done my research and it seems 245/35/18 tires would be good. Im looking for a nice clean flush look like the 17 86 ft86 speedfactory has. I literally just want someone with experience to tell me that sounds right so I'm more comfortable spending around 2400$. I'm on Tein coilovers lowered 1 1/2 in right now. If you have any suggestions on tires that would be nice to. Thanks |

with 35 height tires its gunna be a rough ride. Tires that thin will not soak up much for potholes and cracks in the road.

So 245/40/18? I was looking at that first but I don't want to have to raise my car at all. I'm worried about if the wheels will fit properly

It all depends on how much ride comfort your willing to sacrifice. I do not know if you would have to raise the car to fit 40's or not. I just simply commented to make sure you were aware if you go with as thin of a tire as a 35 its gunna be a rough ride.

I don't believe you would have to raise your car. Play around on this site for comfort https://frsproject.com/
Edit: with a 245/40 tire, you will probably need to add a tad bit of camber (which you should probably have anyway) to make sure no rubbing happens over bumps.

The side wall "series" is a % of the width. From a 215/45 to 245/35 the side wall is only 11mm smaller, hardly a difference that is going to result in a harsher ride. 245/40 is too tall IMO, it is 1.1 inches taller. Check out the specs with this tire calculator. http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...nfoTireMath.do

Tirewise, 245/35/18 is the "correct" choice. Its near factory diameter and will not "raise" your car or offset your speedo due to a wrong diameter. A 245/40/18 is bigger than factory diameter, therefore "raising" your car and messing up your speedo. I can NOT confirm the statement about a "rough ride". I'm driving this setup for more than 4 years now on a daily basis, and its more confortable than any lowered car I ever had. Hope this helps

245/35 is the only sane choice for the wheel size you want. Period.
Whomever tells you to put 40 series tires on this setup doesn't understand fitment. |
