Camaro Warranty
I didn't see this covered in this forum, but the Chevrolet factory warranty covers you if something happens on the track for any of the new Camaros. Even for the entry level 4 cylinder turbo. I think that is really interesting. I don't know if it is a marketing ploy or people at Chevrolet really think the design will withstand that abuse. Either way, it great to see someone go that way. If you read the Camaro literature, they even say try this on the track. All you have to do is no mods (Unclear in the literature, but I think they are talking performance mods and not tires and brakes.). I also think they know the number of warranty items per number of cars sold is probably not that great.
It would be interesting to see if any other manufacturers go that way. For the GT86/BRZ, the literature hints at the track but then don't back up their claims with the warranty. Thoughts? Last edited by Casey10s; 02-26-2017 at 09:56 PM. |

How many people would bring their car to the track, have it break and then tell the dealership they were racing without this kind of warranty?
Pretty sure every claim for a busted engine under warranty has the same story about how they were driving the car under the speed limit with grandma in the passenger seat on the way to bingo and unexpectedly the engine just popped so they can be covered. It sounds like what Chevy is doing is just trying to get you to buy their car...shocked face... knowing full well that if you are tracking it, you are going to mod it and then they have a way out of a warranty claim. |

Mazda does this as well with the miata transmission. Explicitly stating they will replace the transmission if you autoctoss up to the Street Touring prep level.
GM has been fielding factoy cars at national autocrosses so I can see them trying to develop a similar relationship with their customers.

And then there's the Nissan GTR. I think if you use the vehicle's factory-included launch control more than a handful of times it voids parts of the warranty.

I would think the SS and ZL1 could go on the track straight stock and beat the pants off a lot of cars and be a hoot to drive. No mods needed.
