Ft86motorsports and Openflash Header 2
So I ordered an ofh2 from ft86motorsports(a Canadian vendor) and it was on special order which basically meant I had to wait a bit longer for them to get me the part. So I ordered it on the 23rd of December went on vacation and get back to find out they dropped the product all together. I phoned them this morning and they cited bad quality of the header and that there are way better headers out there for that money. To me it sounded like a load of bs. I think they are just having difficulty with the product desributor(Openflash). They are offering a refund but all I want is to get the part I ordered(for a good price).
I was really set on the ofh2 because I could go straight to the aggressive tune on my Openflash Tablet, but alas it doesn't sound like that's going to happen. My options are: A) find an alternate source and purchase the ofh2 at a much higher price. B) buy a gruppe-s UEL header without an overpipe or heatshield and use the extra money I save for an E-tune from Openflash. C) go all out and get a jdl header and run the generic UEL tune until I can save up for a costum E-tune. D) any other ideas you guys can come up with.

With the exchange rate and shipping(it was free where I ordered it) not to mention any kind of duty or taxes it becomes at least a couple hundred dollars more expensive. Add tax and it's more like 400 on top. (I ordered gaskets when calculating total costs.)

I assume you mean the Openflash tablet? I already purchased one used for a good price.

Id just buy the gruppe-s header instead if its a better price. The ability to run the aggressive oft ofh tune will be determined mainly by the quality of your fuel. |

Cheveron 94 octane with no ethonal in British Columbia. Anyone run a Gruppe-s or JDL on similar fuel with the aggressive Openflash tune?

I do not have an agressive tune, but I run the JDL catless UEL with the generic stage 2 tune and the car runs great.

some fuels are better than others regardless of what the octane rating is, quite often the USA 93 fuels run better than the caniadian 94 rated fuels for some reason. Start with the "standard" stage2 uel tune,, and check your afr and for knock. If you get any significant knock on the standard uel stage 2 tune then don't bother with the more aggressive OFH specific tune as it runs a couple of degrees more ignition timing than the standard tune. theirs also some minor avcs adjustments in the ofh tune as well. |

I'm kinda leaning towards the JDL as it has a lifetime warranty.
What kind of difference in performance should I expect from the generic UEL tune vs the aggressive tune? Is it noticeable? If so, would it be worth getting an E-tune at a later date with my preferred fuel?

The ofh specific tune is very aggressive ignition timing wise and requires very good quality fuel to work well. If you don't have that fuel quality then you will be better just running the standard uel stage 2 tune. There wont be much to be gained by an e-tune, unless you running non standard mods like intakes for example |

Okay. The outlet diameter of both headers is larger than my stock exhaust system. Will the extra turbulence make any difference performance wise? Would a larger overpipe(such as the one offered with the Gruppe-s) help negate any negative effects even though the overpipe is also a larger diameter?
