E85 Question - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Lets say like a few folk here I want to keep the Car NA. Seems like the E85 + Cat-less Header + Tune is a common option. If I go with the Moto East Flex-Fuel kit & at some point in time inevitably find myself with a mix of E85 & regular gas - exactly how does the de-tune process work ? does the ECU constantly modify the E85 tune based on %Ethanol detected or default to some 'lower tune' state.

The flex-fuel kit reads the ethanol percentage in the fuel and changes the tuning accordingly. You wouldn't need to do anything to switch between the two. That is why flex-fuel is so nice.

This....IF you are running an EcuTek, the OFT will not auto adjust. So from my personal use, e85 at my station(s) gets me a e84, not bad. If I go 50/50 E85/Pump lets say I am at E60..The Moto-East FlexFuel tune and sensor enables the ecu to "re-tune" to a lower Ethanol content automatically.

Correction - OTF will NOW auto auto adjust.

yea the flexfuel has a sensor to read out and that communicates with the car's ECU. depending on the tuner (guessing moto east if you're buying their flexfuel) they will create a table of different values which allows the car to adjust timing/afr on the fly depending on the ethanol content. It's quite convenient to run flexfuel rather than having two maps one for 93 octane and e85 since e85 isn't ALWAYS 85% ethanol..

That is actually incorrect at this time. OFT Does offer a Flex-Fuel kit.

Oh sorry my bad. When I was deciding. OFT didn't support auto fuel adjustments. Ill adjust my comment. TIA.

thanks guy's so what your saying is that if I go for the OFT E85 Tune I need to purchase their Flex-Fuel kit fort the 'Auto Tune' capability to function correctly ?

I have e85 a block from my house but I won't try it without a ff setup. It says right on the pump 59 percent minimum ethanol content. I don't feel safe running straight e85 tune.
