Door Dings
Ok I just need to vent a little here. Over the weekend I got yet another ding in my driver's side fender area. That makes at least 4 in that same area since I've had the car.
The worst part is I actually saw this one happen. I was at the gym and could see some lady in Mazda CX-5 slam her passenger door right into it through the front window. Of course she just looked around sheepishly and drove off. Sometime I really hate people! ![]() Every single day at work I pick a spot in the garage that's as far away from other cars as possible. I always pick the end spots where I can park way over the line. And even still, stuff like this happens. I'm beginning to understand those douchebag BMW drivers who double park all the time. It's just amazing to me how some people can have such little respect for other people's property. In all the years I've been driving, I've never once dented another person's car. And, if I did, I'd leave a damn note! |

I feel you man, I've got several dings all over my car from careless people who park in the same parking lot at work. It's the reality of having our beloved car serve also as a daily. I'm planning on doing a PDR to get rid of most in the future.

Doesn't help everyone drives large suvs and trucks that barely fit in the spots.

I have gotten 5 door dings PDR'd in a little over 2.5 years. I just saw another one, so I'm going to have to claim that eventually. I'll wait until I get another one before doing so, since I hate wasting time to get them removed.

![]() I look at it this way, even after you have taken all the feasible precautions, that can happen. A lot of people out there are just not careful. So, I figure, I can either fret over it or just have a PDR person fix them. Even leaving my car in the garage is not safe. I have 3 dings, all done when my car was in the garage ..... one inflicted by my wife, one by my granddaughter and one by me ...... so, who am I going to blame ...... ![]() humfrz |

I went 4 years without any door dings, and then got two in the span of a month. Ugh.

I realize that the car we tend to care more about are the ones that tend to get the most dings an rock chips and etc.
The car we give no shits about, tend to never have anything. Maybe for the car we care about, we look into every detail, whereas the car we don't care about, we never really bothered. Example: I have a 14' Prius and a 13' FRS. My FRS gets door dings when I park very cautiously at parking lots. I (similar to you) tend to park far away from all the other cars and STILL, people come and park next to my car (of all places) and still manages to ding my car. My Prius however, I park anywhere! Literally next to shopping carts; and nothing. When I wash the Prius and really look into the body lines of the Prius; NOTHING. Funny how life works |

I'll vent too!
I have to blame the sheet metal on these cars -- they really are super thin and can't take hits.
Of course I blame humans the most lol. My luck must have run out, because I posted this to Snapchat on the 9th... Then this happens the next day... I even parked across the street in a corner spot away from the brunch place. Came back to find a ML63 tank next to me. Ugh. ![]() PDR got out the big crease, but there's still a smaller one below it. This is why we can't have nice things. |

I'm starting to believe that the driving public is just accepting of the fact that they will cause a door ding or will be the victim of one. I think a lot of non-car people (majority of motorists) just do not care. Doors open. Dings can happen.
I bet if you would have approached this individual ... they would have been in shock that you were even bringing it up. I lived in NYC for two years. I now know the reason for bumpers. People used them all the time while parking. It was nothing to gently nudge another vehicle's bumper while parking. Almost expected. I'm afraid the same could be said about door dings.

I feel your pain, I parked under a car port and my daughter opened the passenger door and hit a steel pole next to the car. I couldn't be mad at her she's just a kid so I just swallowed the anger (and a tear slowly coming down my face)

Got a decent scratch near the gas cap on my right fender yesterday, even though you don't notice it without looking for it I still feel your pain. Like a few users above had mentioned, If you DD the car you're setting yourself up for inevitable wear, but I'm surprised that lady had the guts to just drive off after seeing you man. That's so unfortunate
