I initially was envious of the idea of the audio controls. Now I realize with how small the car is, I could just not be lazy and reach a bit to control the audio, lol. Simple steering wheel = more racecar feel LOL. Or, you know.

More racecar feel? Have you seen a race car steering wheel?

Okay, bad choice of words, but I appreciate the simplicity haha.

You'd need, at a minimum:

- Steering wheel
- Air bag
- The appropriate wheel controls setup (there are the two different sides, and obviously 86/BRZ Limited get different setups - you probably need the left side buttons and the right side blank since the right side is for the new screen on the BRZ Limited)
- Clock spring
- Wiring harness on the steering column

And then you'd have to wire into that wiring harness somehow... if it's even possible to get that harness in the first place. Oftentimes these things are all part of an expensive, large, one piece harness that is simply attached to the dash or even worse - the body harness itself.

So that is to say that it is likely possible, but quite difficult to do cleanly / correctly.

Another option is to make your own like I did using factory KIA controls and wiring, and a little bit of fabrication...

Since the Canadian market 2017 BRZ came with the prior American BRZ limited radio (with NAV) I wonder how hard it really would be to retrofit the steering wheel seeing as they're the same radio and both LHD..... hmmmmm

Good call. May be as simple as ordering a 17 Canadian wiring harness.

Actually I don't think that you would need a new clock spring. The one in the FRS/BRZ is sourced from the 2012+ Subaru Impreza, it is also identical to the 15 WRX. The plugs are there to pass the data through, just need to either rewire if the plug is different, or if the clock spring didn't change it would be plug and play on the wheel side, all that's left at that point is to wire from behind the steering column to the radio.

The 2014+ FRS headunits actually support SWC since it's a radio used in a bunch of Scion models, and same with the BRZ, that radio is used in the WRX and Forester.
