this really stepped up the look of their cars. aggressive all the way around and very futuristic almost like a mini spaceship. the only thing I don't like is the front bumper

Wow, looks a lot like the F1 huh. I like it a lot, much more than the 6xx cars it will be replacing. $399k I imagine. I like the McLaren nike swoosh style on the 570 - it's appropriate, exotic but still entry-level. Then the P1 goes nuts with it in the right ways and skips into Hyper drive. But the 6xx cars wear it awkwardly. This will be a great styling update for them.

Powered by a new twin-turbocharged V8, the second-generation McLaren Super Series will hit a standing 1/4 mile in the low 10s.

Making its official debut on March 7th at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show, the all-new Super Series range from McLaren will blur the lines between supercars and hypercars.

Drivers will be able to hit 200 km/h (124 mph) from a standstill in just 7.8 seconds, and cover a standing quarter mile in 10.3 seconds, with the help of a crisp-sounding 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, featuring engine bay illumination as part of the "welcome sequence" upon vehicle unlocking.

"The new 4.0-litre M840T is an outstanding engine powering an exceptional supercar capable of covering a standing quarter mile in 10.3 seconds," said McLaren Super Series vehicle line director, Haydn Baker. "Power, torque and throttle response are all significantly enhanced compared to the first-generation Super Series, yet with fuel efficiency and emissions also notably improved."

Compared to previous designs, the ultra-low inertia, twin-scroll turbochargers fitted to the new M840T engine, spool up more rapidly, delivering reduced turbo lag and a quicker throttle response.

Also, while the exhaust note has been carefully balanced to fit the new engine's performance credentials, buyers can still order an optional sports exhaust.

We'll find out more about the second-generation McLaren Super Series on March 7 in Geneva.

McLaren’s New Super-Series Model Confirmed For Geneva, 2nd-Gen Monocage II Carbon Tub Detailed

McLaren officially confirmed that the 650S successor will be revealed in Geneva, showing us for the first time the second-generation carbon fiber Monocage II tub.

Codenamed P14, the model that will replace the 650S in McLaren’s lineup will reportedly carry the 720S nameplate and according to the company, will tip the scales at just 1,283kg, which is 18kg less than a 650S with “comparable specification”.

McLaren says that their new Super Series models will be the lightest in its class, thanks to the new Monocage II carbon tub. The new chassis structure also allowed for an even lower centre of gravity for better handling, a wider cabin entrance and lower sills to improve access.

The company also revealed that they will offer a ‘Visible Monocage’ option to customers who wish to showcase the carbon chassis, exposing the material on the inside area of the A-pillar.

“Super Series is the core of the McLaren business and personifies the blend of extreme performance, crafted luxury and unparalleled driver involvement that is the McLaren heartland,” said McLaren’s CEO, Mike Flewitt. “This is the first time we have replaced a product family and the new Super Series will be absolutely true to McLaren’s pioneering spirit in being a revolutionary leap forwards, both for our brand and the supercar segment.”

So far we heard that the new, reportedly named 720S will be powered by an updated twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 that makes 710hp (720PS), with the new supercar to feature a hardcore ‘Track’ mode which is similar to that of the P1.

The same reports say that sections of the dashboard will physically lower when ‘Track’ mode is enabled in order to help the driver focus on his driving, with the only visible information to be the tachometer, current gear, oil and cooling temperature and tire pressure.

And since this is McLaren we’re talking about, the new car is also said that it will be as fast as the P1 on track, as the company is eager to showcase their progress with the new generation.

The new McLaren will make its debut on March 7 at the Geneva Motor Show, so expect the first official images to show up in early March.

A leaked image has just surfaced online providing us with our first proper view of the upcoming McLaren 720S before the Geneva Motor Show.

Originally published (but since deleted) by Bloomberg, this picture shows off the tail of the 720S for the very first time while also confirming its long-rumored name. Additionally, it provides a glimpse at the supercar’s overhauled interior.

At the rear, McLaren has taken inspiration from the 675LT, P1 and Sports Series to create a flowing and characterful design that looks much more modern than the 650S this car replaces. It incorporates thin LED taillights, a large retractable rear wing/air brake and an aggressive rear diffuser.

Another interesting take away from this image is that the 720S appears to have quite a bit of luggage space, just like the 570GT. It includes a large glass rear compartment which appears to only hide part of the engine, suggesting that there may be some storage space behind the seats.

Inside, the 720S’ advanced rotating instrument cluster is visible as is an extensively redesigned center console, infotainment system and touchscreen.

Beyond its updated design, we already know that the McLaren 720S will debut a brand new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering, as the name suggests, 720 hp. That should be more than enough for it to show the Lamborghini Aventador SV a thing or two while also rivalling the more powerful but much heavier Ferrari 812 Superfast.
