Thumbs up What should I add to my TRD exhaust on my FRS?

I recently just picked up a used 2015 FRS with a TRD exhaust, I want to keep the exhaust but I want to my my car louder. What can I add to it? Overpipe, unequal lenght headers, etc. Keep in mind im on a pretty tight budget so nothing crazy. Looking forward to your replies, thanks.

it seems a catless front pipe would be the least expensive and easiest to swap but wont be as loud as catless headers.

If you decide to go with a header wait and pay the extra for a quality one. You could get lucky with a budget header but most are complete nightmares and not worth getting just to have it a bit sooner.

Save up for a catless UEL header. Louder, change the entire engine sound, and performance gains to boot. You might need/want to budget for a tune as well though to get the most out of it, so maybe this isn't the most cost effective option. Certainly not the cheapest.

Removing other cats would be the other option.

Technically, it's illegal, but since the primary cat is in the header no one will ever notice that you replaced the secondary cat unless they really know the car well and are under the car looking.

If you're that concerned, get a high flow catted front pipe. More noise than stock, but still has a cat.

Almost all the headers on the market remove the primary cat, which is harder to get around (but still not that hard) in Ontario.

Would take a real prick of a cop to worry about it. Just don't do stupid stuff to attract attention.

Read the thread tcoat linked and just research them all. There a top budget headers for max power to mid price headers with good gains and reputible quality.

Just keep your stock front pipe and it should be OK sound wise

@AmunTheFRSGuy

A catless front pipe will add more volume than a catless header. I've tried both (as well as a new overpipe) with my TRD exhaust and can attest to that as fact. Also the diameter of the pipes you're adding also matters. The bigger the pipe, the deeper the tone (which carries farther, especially at WOT and cold-start up). There are 2.5', 2.75', and 3.0" pipes in the market.

TRD USA Exhaust
CNT UEL (Catless)
Ultimate Racing 2.75" Overpipe / 2.75" Frontpipe combo (Resonated)

Then get a catted front pipe.

The Berk catted front pipe is 3db louder than stock. On my car w/ Fujitsubo exhaust before, it went from "quiet and like stock" to "instant annoying drone in cabin"

My CNT one is working out very well for me. And countless others on here. Not to say you're wrong though.

It is true, you get what you pay for. And I paid for the UEL sound. Not sure what I'm getting no performance wise, but for 400 bucks, I think I got a decent deal.
