Mafscaling Utility - WOT Best VVT Help?
Wondering if I could get some tips from someone more versed with with utility? I've searched as much as I can, but some explicit yes/no/don't do that would be helpful.
Ive stumbled upon the mafscaling utility, and I'm trying to make the best out of my tune and utilize the WOT Best VVT functions. After inputting my logs, and letting the utility to the calculations, I can see that my VVT tables are not too far off from the recommended values. My questions are: 1. Do I input the recommended values in all cells for that rpm? Or, do I only input it for a specific load range? (ie. > 0.8?) 2. Do I need to gradually 'get there'? If that makes any sense? If the latter case if true for my first question, do I adjust the preceeding cells by values of 3-5? 3. Is it crucial to log and use 'Throttle angle (*)', NOT 'Throttle Positon #1(%)' for the 'Throttle Angle %' column? Looking at examples/screenshots here, Ive seen the use of 'Throttle Angle (*)'. I'm trying to learn much as I can. Hoping I can nail this down for my current tune, and do it for my future header when I purchase it as well. FWIW, not sure if mafscaling is crucial for vvt? but my logs show ~5% or less for LTFT. Any help would be appreciated! Any do's, don'ts, and things to watch out for would be super helpful. |

Seeing as that was my idea I guess I'll answer your questions.
1. Don't change the whole table. You're obtaining results for WOT operation so only change that data. You'll see that the OEM tables are the same above a certain load, I would be inclined to just replicate that. 2. After you've done the above if, for example, you are always above load of 1 then you could adjust the previous column to interpolate the values. This is not required though, if there is not a jump of more than 10 degrees then you could just not bother. 3. Throttle angle/%/Accelerator angle will all do the same thing, it's just to filter the WOT data from the logs. MAF scaling isn't crucial, AFRs will move around a little due to the cams. My only advice is to do one set of cams at a time. I would also try and produce the runs in the same gears.

Hi.
As I experienced with that tool, you need to monitor real cam angles after adjusting AVCS tables. Even not a big jump in the table, the inter/extrapolation of cell values could make the angle differ from the one you wished. And also consider delta angle/delta time is not changed much in a short time. This is what I experienced. Thanks for a good tool, Kodename47 and vgi! |
