DIY - Free (maybe) muffler delete

First post, read a lot and gained a lot of info from here. Really appreciate this community. Here is a quick how to on making a free muffler delete.

For this you will need:
a stock muffler
some type of hanger rod (could use a 5" long bolt)
saw (I used a jig saw and a hand saw with metal blades)
welder
normal tools to remove the muffler

Step 1
Remove the muffler. I was just experimenting so I bought a used muffler off craigslist to play with.

Step 2
Cut the flange off the input pipe to the muffler, leaving enough of a lip to weld onto.

Step 3
Cut the driver's side muffler exit pipe at about 11 3/4 inches from the end

Step 4
Test fit and mark pipes for welding

Step 5
Weld the two pieces of pipe together as well as the hanger rod, paint and reattach the muffler tip

Notes
This can be free if you don't mind sacrificing your muffler and you own a welder. I paid for a guy to weld mine up as I currently don't own a welder. Also this is not 100% optimal for exhaust flow as the exit pipe fits inside the flange, creating a small lip which will cause some disruption to the exhaust flow, but I can't believe that there would be much impact that close to the end of the exhaust and with so little restriction overall.

Hope someone gets some use out of this.

I made one like this by taking a walker 2.5" flange, and welding a cherry bomb resonator to that, then a DC tip to the resonator. Looked and sounded pretty good actually, it was a fun little project while I decided on what I really wanted.

Did the resonator take away the drone at 2k? I can't say it bothers me, but I do notice it. I've just been turning the stereo up
