Genuine vs Replica CF Hood - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hey guys,

I've ordered the MY17 BRZ and have wanted the Varis Ver. 1 CF Hood for my car since I've looked up modifications a year ago haha. So I'm in Australia and there's a local place that has sold many of these hoods without a single complaint, and I have a friend who buys from them. They have a fitment guarantee and try to make it as close to genuine as possible.

So the genuine is just over double the price of the replica. I was wondering what other people have experienced with replica hoods, etc. I don't want the hood to ruin the car because I tried to save money because I would spend the extra cash if genuine really makes that much of a difference.

My friend has a Varis replica hood that came from Austalia. It looks top notch. Quality good and fitment was spot on. But, Varis is.. well...Varis.

Carbon plus? I ordered the genuine and felt so relieved haha. I just can't risk it.
