Warm vs cool Weather performance

I usually work from home, but happened to drive into the office yesterday. Here in Vancouver, we're having some weird weather lately - usually we're right into summer at this point and enjoying the heat. This year (like the last few actually) we're doubting summer will ever come.

Yesterday was our first nice day after a long stretch of Rain - started out very crisp in the morning (14°C - 57°F). Driving in, I felt like my FR-S was the fastest thing on the road, I was zipping around - loving the intake noise, and having a hell of a good time.

On the way home, the temp was 26° (79°F) ...the car felt like a total slug!! I've experienced differences in performance in other cars, but I couldn't believe the difference in the FR-S.. it was like it was a different car.. sluggish and under performing. I almost felt like something was wrong.

Has anyone else experienced this harsh performance drop with temperature increases?

were you driving uphill on the way home? LOL.

was this just one time? Maybe it has something to do with the higher performance engine 12.5 CR on 93 octane is not something most cars work with.

I haven't really noticed anything yet since the weather is just getting hotter. But hey, we have a week of sunshine at least.:happy0180:

I've been driving my BRZ 6MT in 105* heat here in southwest Indiana! Other than the slight drag one can feel from the A/C it feels fine. Although I've not had a chance to drive it in anything under 90* yet with this super hot weather we are having.

Next week its supposed to be in the 80's so maybe I'll feel a bit more power.

I can say that my GTI with its turbo is just gutted when the temps get high...a lot of heat soak in the intercooler results in pulled back boost I guess.

High Heat with High Humidity with some aftermarket intakes mess up the A/F and throws a CEL.

havent noticed much due to weather. try driving a turbo car in hot hot weather! a heat soaked intercooler kills all the fun.

When I drove my RSX the other day it was 105 degrees outside and I wanted to jump out of the car and let it crash into a wall. That's how angry I was with it. When the temperature is around 79 here my car behaves kinda adequate(normal) so it sounds like this car will hate high temperature times of the year.

Its 101 here in WI and the car feels really sluggish, I switch off the a/c before i get on it also

I need to fix the torque dip from 3-4.5K its really buggin me, its like the car just falls on its face

I really cant wait for a good ecu tune and about 30 more hp, then i would be content with it....

I'm in Dubai right now. 40 degree + Celsius weather and massive humidity.

No CELs and the engine temp gauge has never even reached the halfway point.

That sounds odd to me. When I leave for work in the mornings it's been in the low to mid 50's. I drive about 35 miles inland and when I leave work it's been in the high 80's to mid 90's and mine runs fine through about a 25 degree temperature drop by the time I get back home. Mornings to work and afternoons home I don't feel any loss of performance, even with the AC running on the way home.
