Ecutek on Stock Car

So I heard about tuning increasing power numbers as long as it's custom.

I talked to a Ecutek performance shop. They said $100 for the license or whatever, then $500 for a custom map using a dyno.

I saw a graph that showed about 11HP gain with no mods.

So is this possibly legit? And worth it for a stock car?

I think its the other way round Ecutek licience is about $350 and tune for NA car about 100-300 ,for a flash and go tune, more if you want full dyno tune but pretty much a waste on stock NA car, just get the flash and go tune. Total cost will be about 500-700 usd.


Yeah 8-12 hp on a stock car is achievable depends on fuel.


add a catless header maybe 20


add e85 fuel and catlesw header about 30.

Yes this is pretty much what you gain with no other mods (approx. 10hp). There is also Cosworth 1.0 package which is an Ecutek tune and it gives you 15hp with the addition of a low temp thermostat and a high flow air filter.


Does it worth or is it safe? I don't know Even with stock tune and low quality fuel, the engine subtracts timing because of detonation (knock). So, I am a bit sceptical about these gains. Cosworth told me once that detonation, has been carefully managed and they still utilise the original knock sensing capability.


Personally, I found a way to get these 10hp from other areas and have piece of mind with a stock ECU.

Oh, I don't know where I got that. Reread the email and it just said 600 for the license and dyno tune, also to help get that dip out

I'm running a canned stage 1.1 tune from Cosworth with their catback exhaust. They claim 20hp increase total on 93 and I believe it. It's a simple process to basically flash and go with ecutek.

Its a simple process and just flash and go with ecutek,OFT,Tactrix or a bunch of other tuning devices.


you will get pretty much the same power increase with any decent tuner on an NA car no matter what flash system you use


cosworth quote flywheel hp in most cases, where other tuners quote wheel hp hence the higher quoted figures from cosworth.


using stock ECU power wise you can do the same things with any tune system.


ecutek add some fancy features like map switching, but other than those the results will be comparable with other systems and tuners.

I don't have very many choices around here of tuners that have dyno's. He uses Ecutek. I didn't go into it looking for one brand or another. I'm just happy it's a legit thing and I can keep my car tuned whatever mods I make!

Nothing wrong with any of that is there? Been reading this software forum too much now. Since I can find an Ecutek guy with a dyno that does custom maps, no reason to try a different platform is there?

Ecutek is perfectly fine; my car is tuned via Ecutek and it runs fantastic. The only "power" modifications I have is a catback. To be honest, the butt dyno doesn't feel much faster but the throttle response, Ecutek features, and drive-ability alone make it well worth it.

My previous car was a fully modified stock turbo/motor STI, so going in a straight line with the BRZ will always feel slow.

Their is nothing wrong with ecutek its a good system and if you have a local tuner that uses it and is familiar with brz86 thats good too.

if your going to tune your stock car then add header later your going to need to get it retuned, you might want to see what that will cost.

other option might be a openflash tablet you get device and set of tunes for na cars included for stock cars cars with headers el\uel on petrol 91\93 and e85.


if you go ecutek see if your tuner will do a 4 map switchable tune for 91\93\E40\E85 if you want to use e85
