17x9 wheels came in - considering powder coating them

So there is more of a write up in my blog, but looking at maybe powder coating the wheels I just had delivered. I ended up with the Mach V wheel. light weight, good price, hub centric. Vote in the poll for the color choice.

Anyone have experience powder coating wheels?

Yup i powder coated my work emotion 11r's since i got sick of matte black and went with graphite. The finish lasted more than the original, just make sure you go to a good powdercoater.

I say leave them black. I think the mag blue and crazy colors only looks good on the real high end wheels when they are coated from the factory.

I love your blog Matt.. keep up the good work.

I also love these wheels. I'm considering a set myself.. but I've got a set of Gram Lights 57C that are very very similar to these but 18" and 5x114.3.. I'm holding off to see if someone can do a reasonable hub swap setup. If that doesn't happen, then I'll probably do the Mach V Awesome's as well.

Regarding your question about the powder coating colors that you posted on your blog.. I'll share my opinion.. for what it's worth...

Stick with Black.. I've always liked the black wheels on a white car look. Give it a month or two and see what you think. If you still think you want something different.. do the powder coating later on. You'll just have a little more work in cleaning them than you would now.

As for colors.. if you did decide to powder coat.. I love the Mag Blue that Volk sells.. I like a wheel that looks black until you catch it in the sun just right and you get that sharp metallic blue glimmer... that is really cool!
