Noob here...
Hey y'all.. Just wondering what turbo/supercharger brands and setups you are using and any recommendations. I'm looking for a little more power in my car. Still plan on using it as a DD but of course, more power is always nice. Anyone have experience running boost on stock engine internals? How much boost before I'd start running into problems and looking for a rebuild? How does the stock tranny and clutch hold up? Just looking for info on how the stock car would handle a little bit of boost and which parts would be a major concern I'd have to swap first before installing.
Mods so far: spec d catback exhaust, fortune auto coilovers, 18x9.5 +30offset Enkeis , brembo breaks, eBay engine bay strut bar (lol), and a vinyl windshield banner (plus 5 hp obviously) (that was a joke ha ha ha ha......). Also.. Turbo or Supercharge? I've been reading up super chargers seem to work better on the FRS but I love that turbo sound.. P.s. I'm not planning on going past around 10psi. This is still my daily (aside from my pos 96 civic). |

Since those are some pretty basic and frequently answered questions, I would suggest reading (all) the stickies at the top of the page. They would contain the answers to most of those questions, and help you to refine your queries so you could get the information you want.
There are lots of turbo v supercharger threads too, (one was very recent), so search around. |

Reasons: 1. Edelbrock installed by a certified brick and mortar mechanic + edelbrock tune gets you a 3 year powertrain warranty. (warranty starts from new vehcle purchase date so if it is a used car past 36 months or 36000 this is not valid,) 2.Edelbrock s a roots style supercharger, you get most of the torque and hp at lower RPMs, perfect for people driving in DD situations ie 45-55 mph on way to work. 3. It looks cool, haha 4. I cannot find many legit bad reviews. 5. Edelbrock answers their phones, customer support seems good and friendly 6. Little to no maintenance needed from what I understand 7. many tuner shops sell the kit and have experience with them |

I'm running a Greddy t620z turbo at 11lbs with stock internals. It's making ~290-300 to the wheels on an automatic.
It all depends on your preference. Mine drives stock until higher RPMs so I have the option to go zoom zoom when I want to. |

You're in California, stick with kits that are street legal and CARB certified. Thus far as a bonus to being street legal they have all been very reliable: Edelbrock, Jackson Racing, Vortech, and Innovate. Works has a CARB legal turbocharger as well.
Installing aftermarket parts that are not emissions legal in California has a maximum fine of $5,000. Source: (see item 2 in Appendix B) http://www.arb.ca.gov/enf/sb1402/policy.pdf |

Looking at TRD, Edelbrock, and Jackson Racings right now. Fingers crossed the stock internals hold up with the boost! New thread with the finished product should be up in a few weeks. Located in NorCal btw |

I'm from NorCal but have some buddies down in the LA area. If I ever make a drive down there I'll give your shop a call. Currently working with VL motorsports here in the Bay.
Thank you all for your input! I think Jackson Racing is the way to go but VL has a whipple supercharger, an excellent fabricator, a mishimoto intercooler, adn other various parts ready to go to make me a custom build as well.... decisions decisions. It all comes down to how much I want to dip into my savings
