Best place to order wheels and tires?

Hello everyone. I'd like to hear where everyone is ordering their wheels and tires from. Right now I am saving and planning to go with rpf1 17x9 +35 (I know very original also thinking of the 17x8 I like the look of that one too actually) Still researching budget track tires..

I checked out tire rack and they charge quite a bit for shipping. Would it be a good idea to get the wheels and tires separately? Also what's a good price/place to get tires mounted and balanced? After that just slap em on?

Just curious what process everyone went through and if you've got any recommendations.

Thanks!

I ordered my wheel package from carid.com because tirerack doesn't carry XXR wheels. I like the fact that everything comes mounted and ready to go with hardware and shipped for not that much more that you could find on cheaper sites. Be careful though if you need them pronto because they don't stock the wheels but order from manufacturer, and mine apparently have to be custom forged and so my ship date was set back about a month.

Good luck.

Check forum vendors to see if they can cut you a deal. RPF1 is a common wheel and you're looking for a common size, so I expect that there are several vendors that carry them. I know FT-86 SpeedFactory carries them, and you might find a vendor local to you.

Ordering both wheels and tires already mounted from the same place (e.g., TireRack) is great if you're also ordering tire pressure sensors or you're ok with the TPS light staying on. Otherwise you'll have to have them unmounted to swap the sensors over from your current wheels.

If you just show up at a tire place to have tires and wheels mounted and balanced, expect somewhere between $10-20 a wheel. I know Costco is $15 a wheel.

- Counterspace Garage
- Tire Rack
- Discount Tire Direct

All have been great to work with. When ordering tires from Tire Rack, you can ship directly to a local installer and get the Tire Rack special pricing listed on their website.

In regards to the wheels, I got mine off Oakos.com. They were fairly cheap and had free shipping when I bought mine.

When it comes to tires I always shop around. Sometimes tire rack has some deals some times the local tire shop has them even lower than online stores. As for rims, usually online has the largest selection at the lowest price.

@ModBargains.com

You can have wheels+tires mounted and balanced shipped-ready to bolt on.

I bought Wedsport wheels from Gruppe-S, a vendor on this site. Rubber I ordered from Discount Tire where I also got them mounted and balanced.

Definitely check for free shipping rates on wheels, I would recommend slapping the wheels and tires on yourself If you have the means to do so. Don't forget to factor in an alignment as well after install. Call around tire shops for the best price. When I was looking for Falkens there was a $100 difference per tire between Discount Tire and Les Scwab.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Ideally I'd like to have the wheels and tires mounted and balanced and shipped to home and I'll install it. Looks like tirerack would be first choice unless someone else comes up with a better deal for rpf1's, k4r, or ultraleggeras, with tires mounted probably rs3's.

Tire Rack has been great for me.
If you want affordable entry level, and able to track or autox I'd go with Hankook RS3.
