Ecutek tuning question

Hi guys, I've been searching for answers to my question through a few forums without any luck so hope you guys can help.

I was looking to get a harrop/edelbrock supercharger kit which comes with the Ecutek calibration ( which I assume means license and a base tune). question is once I have the Ecutek license and base tune done, can I take it to any tuner who uses Ecutek or would I have to contact harrop/edelbrock for future retunes if I get more mods. Currently just stock with panel filter.
I was just a bit confused on how it works, cuz I see some people saying ecus r locked after a Ecutek tune but I wasn't sure if that meant locked to one tuner or locked with Ecutek tunes only

Ok theirs a few pieces to the puzzle

If you want to flash ecutek tune yourself you need to buy an ecutek cable and encryption dongle kit each dongle had a unique id tag. If you tuner is flashing tune no need.

You can use the kit and dongle to flash many different ecu, but you must have licience for each ecu.

Ecutek tunes from tuners are almost certianly locked in that all you can do is flash and log the tune, and the tune will be also locked to a dongle id either yours or tuners dongle.

Then their is an ecu flash licience, you need one of these to be able to flash any ecutek tune to an ecu and they are not transferable, and you need one for each ecu you want to flash. Hoever one you have licience in ecu you can flash whatever tunes you want as often as you want to the licienced ecu

I believe all you will get from harrop is a locked base tune, not sure if harrop would unlock it for your tuner you would have to ask harrop.

unlikely it will include flash licience or cable kit unless it specificly states it does, just ask them as some people will aready have licience and\or cable kit

your ecu is locked by the presence of an ecutek tune so only ecutek can access ie read or write logging still works with other systems.
your ecu can be returned to normal ie unlocked by flashing a "stock" tune back to the ecu with ecutek then it open again.

Thanks Steve! Cleared it up a bit for me only reason I'm thinking this is emissions test can be a pain in NSW. I'm pretty sure the emissions cert only comes with the Ecutek tune and not the "tuners kit"

if its an emmisions compliant tune it will almost definitly be completly locked for even tuners.
