What's the worst case scenario if i really screw up a flash with OFT?

Hello,

I'm thinking about getting OFT, but tuning the car myself scares me a bit LOL.
I like to think of worst case scenarios before I make decisions, and I"m wondering, what is the worst that could happen if my flash goes wrong?

Bricking the ECU? How much would a replacement cost?

Is it unheard of for OFTs to fail and cause some sort of damage on the car/electronics?

Considering once you have your OFT with the tune(s) uploaded, all you do is plug it into your obdII port and flash the ecu. It should run you through the proper steps on the tablet.

Worse case scenario: your engine explodes in a slow fiery death.
Best case scenario: your car is now flashed to Stage X tune.

I was extremely new to tuning/flashing before I got my OFT, and frankly I still am, but after reading numerous different threads on here about it, I have a much better understanding of how it all works. It can definitely seem intimating at first, but the OFT is actually very easy to use. Just make sure that you use the correct tunes (same callID as stock rom, correct stage, etc) and follow the steps on the on the tablet while flashing (don't open doors/windows or mess with any of the electronics) and you shouldn't have any problems.

The biggest risk is your battery. If your battery is weak and causes a voltage drop during the flash, then you can run into problems.
