NOS!!! (Torreto Voice FF1)

I don't see a single topic discussing Nitrous injection systems for this car.

Will anyone go for it? (Use it on the FRS/BRZ)

I didn't install a kit. But I did fog a little shot into my intake on the dyno. Went from 157whp(stock) to 190whp(small fog shot).

What do you want to discuss? Nitrous or nitrous and this car specifically? Are you considering it?

Updated the OP to specify. Yeah, I want to know who is considering it, would you use it, why or why not, drawbacks with the car being Direct Injected... etc etc...

I haven't given it too much of a thought, but the thought came to my mind today and was amazed to search keywords and getting no results from a forum that has been running for more than 3 years.

I think it has some advantages and some big drawbacks, so I want to listen from more experienced people what they think.

Are you looking into installing a kit?

I was originally going to. My Tuner (Inline Racing) was going to install a small shot (50) on an cold air intake he was going to make me way up front near the filter. I changed my mind due to the fact that I know what this car strictly for road racing.

I see.... I think it might be worth it depending on how much one plans to race, and how stock one wants to keep the car.

I can't say much re: peculiarities of direct injection and nitrous, or this car, but in general I probably wouldn't bother with nitrous again.

While it's fun for a bit and the instant boost is like nothing else the cons outweighed the pros for me.

Done right it will cost a good penny, money that can be put toward FI. A barebones kit might look cheap but gauges, automatic bottle opener, and other items add up fast. Refills are annoying. It's illegal for road use and while using it you may attract unwanted attention.

I never got to play with the computerized systems, throttled solenoids, but that's the route I would choose today. Adjustable on the fly, programmable over the rpm range.

A good system should have backups, as well. That adds more cost.
In my case a piece of something jammed a solenoid open. The fuel solenoid, fortunately, or I'd have needed a new engine.

Thanks, this is the type of stuff I want to read. I see big drawbacks from your experience.

I know in some other cars, a small nitrous shot is used to spool up the turbo quicker, but I don't know with the high compression on the car + boost doesn't seem to be a winning formula. I come from a different background, (where I used to live 5 years ago it was absolutely legal to have it in street in the car) but I am learning quickly it is a huge hassle to have the bottle in the car and might even get you in jail.

The only reason I would consider it would be for drag racing, which I have out grown. As stated above if done correctly it would be okay. What would be my concern is at this point there would only be fogger systems, or wet kits available, I always preferred port injection.

Thats pretty cool actually. Do you have that dyno chart? would also like to see the A/F ratio compared to the stock run.

Amateurs don't use nitrous oxide. You'll blow yourself to pieces!
