Has anyone tried Peel Coat?

I saw this at Walmart.

https://www.rustoleum.com/product-ca...ands/peel-coat

Has anybody tried it? It only costs 5 bucks a can. I'm interested in the gloss black. Plasti Dip doesn't come in gloss black. I tried the matt black with clear overcoat but it's still not glossy.

I guess I can be the guinea pig.

I am not a supporter for plasti dipping cars or anything. However my father in law wanted to see how his wheels would look black. He bought an off brand plasti dip I think it was dupli color or rustoleum, It came out horrible and was awful to peel off. He bought plasti dip and it came out great and very easy to peel off.

Just food for thought, It could have been user error.

I've used that brand before when I used to own a truck. Sprayed my wheels with that and had it peeling off in chunks after a week. It's a pain to get off as some parts stick perfect while others don't. I highly recommend using the name brand solution, you'll be glad you paid the extra few dollars in the long run.

Honestly if you want true gloss, get them powdercoated.

You can mess around with those peel away solutions but if the Plasti-dip didn't come out how you wanted it highly doubt another product will.

FWIW Rustoleum's Flexidip is supposedly a lot thinner than plastidip so it requires more coats to be able to peel off cleanly.

Well, I went and did it. I plopped down my 5 bucks and got a can of this crap.
First I peeled off the old plasti dip (been on for over a year). It came off almost in one sheet. No problems at all.

I decided to paint just that little piece on the trunk to see how it would work.

I gotta tell ya... I didn't think this stuff was going to work at all. It goes on SO thin I was thinking that it had the wrong cap on it. After 5 coats it started to think about being black. Kept recoating it about every 10 minutes. It looked blotchy as hell. After about the tenth coat I decided enough is enough and put it aside to dry.

The next day I take a look at it AND IT LOOKS GREAT! It's got a nice smooth finish and is pretty glossy. My goal is to match the color of my 5 axis spoiler which is Raven. Very shiny. And it's pretty close. A little wax may do it.

This is not a very good picture but gives you the idea. I'm going to finish painting the back of the trunk today. I'll let you know how it goes.

Tried some rustolium peal coat tint on my tail lights. Looked good when I first applied it but it cracked after just 4 days. And not from rubbing or heat or anything. Just cracked!
And it felt rubbery. Will add pics if requested.

I finished the back of the trunk. Gave it 11 coats with 10 minutes between coats until I ran out. (Took 2 cans).
Just like before it goes on REAL THIN. Took 5 coats to start to turn black again. And it looks blotchy as hell until it dries. But it came out fairly decent. Let's see how long it lasts.

I must say that Plasti Dip is much easier to use. If only they had a gloss black.

The actual glossy finish on the spoiler makes the trunk look matte

It looks better in person. The finish is actually very smooth. Not like the plasti dip at all. In the right light (or dark) it looks pretty good.
Next time I get bored I'll try covering it with clearcoat. That might do the trick. I tried clearcoat with the plasti dip matt black but it just made it worse. Gave it a frosted matt look.
