jdnguyen and myself participated in Optima's Search for the Ultimate Street car at Road America in 2015. It is a great event; however, I think it would be pretty hard for a 86 to ever win the event.

Very nice! How did you guys fair in the various events? What did you have done to your cars?

We met and were hanging out with Churchill and Bong from RS Motors; good guys. Bong was competing with his turbo S2000. We definitely agree about it being hard for an 86 to win. I imagine your event was as dominated, if not more, by domestics as our event was. We had sea of late model Corvettes and well sorted pro-touring vehicles. Short of something like LS-swapping with wide body/wide rubber I don't think it would happen.

Still a very fun time though!

EDIT: You should post those photos (and other track photos if you have more) in the Track Photos - Directory and Discussion thread. It needs a kick start.

My car is pretty simple: OFT/E85, Tomei Header, Grimmspeed intake, DTC60s, RCE T2 and sways, and some bushings.

Was wondering if you would catch the RS Stickers on my car. We have a very large crew that attends these events. At road America our group of friends made up 27(Evos, STis, Civic, FD, bmws) of the 75 entries, granted it was our "Home" event. The Evo crew has came in 2nd in vegas 2 years in a row, as well as a handful in the top 10 for both years.

I got 7th or 9th out of 26 in GTL at Road America, I was pretty happy with the placement, can't remember Jason's placing. A NA BRZ can't touch 400+ HP evos, Popps 600+ C5, or a LS swapped FD on a road course that's made for speed.

Yeah, sounds like you did really well, especially considering being N/A.

And that's a good showing of imports. There were maybe 10 non-domestic vehicles are our event.

More event prep:

Brake ducting back in.

Corner balancing.

We would have liked to dial it in better, but were running out of time.

Weight WITH driver.

We choose the Hankook R-S3 to abide by the 200 treadwear or higher event rule. 245/40/ZR17 size.
Wheels are RAYS Gram Lights 57DR in 17x9 +38 sizing.

Alignment.

We drove the BRZ to Thunderhill Raceway from our shop at Sonoma Raceway.

It's a STREETcar challenge after all, right?!

I will be running the Charlotte event this year and can't wait! Did they make you provide any proof of vehicle weight to run the GTL class? If so what did you use?

You likely won't get questioned on it, the new rules for weight are mainly for something that looks like it was swiss cheesed to get under 3200lbs, people were doing it. Our cars have no contest of being over the 3200lbs. Any online article you may find from a magazine review should have curb weight.

That being said, they had scales on site in Charlotte last year. Be prepared for a 1/8 mile drag race into a box at the 1/8th for your standing start shootout.

Yea I watched last year's speed stop and autocross events. Looked a little slick near the stop box too. Can't wait!
