Scion/Toyota broke 3rd brake light applying tint

Just a heads up to anyone applying tint.......the toyota dealer broke my brake light on the interior of the car when applying tint to the back window. It is just little tiny plastic pieces holding the assembly together. They snapped a couple of them and it looks all **** eyed when you look at it through rear view mirror.

They are ordering replacement parts to fix for free, but be wary of aftermarket tint dealers that will try to deny if they break it.

thanks for the heads up!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did your dealership charge you for the tint job? Besides the broken piece, were there any other bumps in the process?

They charged me approx. $229 for the entire job (15% back window, 35% sides). I wanted dealership to do it because they'll fix anything they break. Plus full warranty.

No other bumps in process. When I brought the brake light to their attention my sales rep immediately ordered replacement and apologized. Make sure you have a good sales rep though. Mine went above and beyond to make sure I was happy.

As much as we all hate it, especially on such an awesome and anticipated new car, shit happens.

The key is how the dealer/rep responds to it. Making sure it's fixed for you on the spot with no hesitation is really the key to proper customer service. In a month or two you'll look back and be like "whatever THAT was" instead of "I can't believe those assholes..."

My third brake light looks the same after the BRZ rear shelf TSB! I heard it rattling, looked back, and saw it sitting askew.

Did they remove just the third brake light or the whole shelf with the light attached? The shop that did mine removed the entire rear shelf with the light attached to it and nothing was broken. Might be a good suggestion for anyone going to have theirs done in the future.

Same exact thing just happened to me this past Saturday. The shop I brought it to does tints for Audi and Porsche and I've brought numerous cars there before, so their reputation is solid in my book. Long story short, they apologized and are ordering a new assembly to install. I hope it worked out for OP.
