Question about Valenti Tails
Does anyone know what it would take to get the boomerang light to function as both the tail/running light, and the brake light? I would prefer to not use the strip of red LEDs.
Could this be done? Has anyone done it? |

As it's not dual brightness you'd not be able to get it to work as a brake light when the lights are on.

It can be done with work.
Open up the tail lights, put a second set of LEDs in there as a running light. The Bar is essentially frosted glass or acrylic over a line of LEDs to defuse the light evenly. |

What about this: Using a rectifier diode and resistor inline with the tail light circuit to reduce the voltage getting to the LEDs, making them slightly dimmer. And using another rectifier diode inline with the brake light circuit. The diodes prevent voltage from 'back feeding' into the other circuit. The output of the brake light diode is connected to the output of the tail light resistor, which is connected to the lights. When the brakes are applied, the lights will get full voltage thru the single diode. Otherwise, the lights get reduced voltage thru the tail light diode and resistor.
Sound doable? I wonder if someone already makes such a gadget... Edit: If I use a variable resistor I could vary the intensity of the tail light.
