Is 45 old?

Well... Im approaching the 45 year old mark and I was wondering if thats considered old. Thing is I don't feel all that old, im pretty active, do 40 to 50 laps in the pool daily, go to the gym, live healthy, occasionaly drink, smoke 🙄 But im planning to stop that (the smoking not the drinking), I drive a manual 86 which I enjoy immensly. My idea of an old man would be my dad whos 78 but still drives and goes to work everyday.

Whats your take on what a 45 year old should be like?

There is no one "should be like" for everybody.

I would say step 1:
Still alive.

LOL You may want to reconsider throwing the word "fabulous" around since in modern vernacular it has taken on a whole new connotation!

I'm 51 and can honestly say that chronological age is only part of the equation. I run 5 miles, 4 days per week and lift weights twice a week. Granted I'm not up on some of the pop culture shit that younger guys in my office are into, but I have stamina and I feel healthy, and for me that is the most important thing. In this day and age you can hope for and try to improve the chances of longevity. Drink lots of coffee, but not too much booze.

Do you think we should start threads for each age bracket starting from driving age to 100? Just a thought as folks are going through some kind of age related complex.

I am 56, run only if somebody is chasing me, weight lifting is restricted to carrying the beer in from the car, I smoke, don't sleep enough and have the crappiest diet imaginable. Every year my checkup comes in 100% clean and the doctor says I am as fit as a 25 year old.

Hooray for genetics!

I'm not sure if this says more about your health or the health of the average 25 year old.

I'm 60 and who cares; I'm still incredibly immature. At least I found and married a woman who puts up with it.

Tcoat is right, hooray for genetics, although if you quit smoking you might live to 150...

Haha.... Ill bet u live somewhere with lots of fresh air, don't underestimate what clean, unpolluted air does. And yeah my granma used to smoke like a trooper and drink on a daily basis till she passed away at 93. Its all about a persons mindset "subconscious" thats why a 25 uear old feels like an old man and an old man sometimes feels like a 25 year old. Anyone read "the power of your subconscious mind" by Joseph Murphy? If you havent I recommend you read it

Who the hell wants to be 150? Figure I have 20 or so good years left and then just don't care what happens.
