2016 Golf TSI 1.8T (base) Dyno Results

Just picked up a new daily driver last week, first German car every, and for the money, WOW is all I can say. Of course, being the nerd I am, I have to see what this thing puts down stock before I load the APR Stage 1 tune.

Specs:
2016 Golf S 1.8 TSI
6 Speed Auto
93 octane

VW definitely underrates these things from the factory with their 170hp and 200tq output.

Should make quite the sleeper once tuned!

VW is practically giving cars away right now. Even more so as the settlement details are completed and those numbers make the news. It's nearly time to get a family hauler for a song.

Exactly why I got one. Cheaper than my Impreza Sport, with such a nicer interior, more power, better MPG's, refined ride, great handling. It's really a win for a sub $20k car.

This absolutely crushes a FiST for value. The inside of one of those things is parts bin purgatory.

Wow 225 lbs-ft at the wheels! Very healthy. VW has been under-rating output for a few years now. The mk6 GTI was rated 200 hp / 207 tq, and typically dyno'd around there at the wheels.

I've heard BMW does the same thing with their turbo straight 6's.

It's crazy what kind of power you can put down with these turbo VW engines. I had a GTI 1.8T for over 10 years and sold it a few years ago. With just a tune and downpipe, I was putting down 182hp and 223ftlb on 91 octane. Unfortunately, the handling left a lot to be desired even after I changed out to Bilstein PSS9 coilovers and added a Neuspeed rear sway bar. But on the street, they are hard to beat.

Oh yeah, another thing....the turbo spools up FAST. I had full boost by ~2500rpm.
