Thoughts on night shading Valentis
As title says I'm looking for thoughts or anyone one that has done this? I picked up a set of smokes Valentis today and put them on my black 86 but I was thinking i would like them a little darker in colour. Thought? Thanks

I've used "VHT night shade" before on customer cars. It's not my cup of tea but they seemed really pleased with the quality so I'd recommend that brand.
Imo I'd leave them how they came and see how the light output is, the sole purpose of the tail lights is to let people know you're stopping/stopped. And of course post pics when you install them, black on black👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 |

Not my cup of tea either. I like my smoked valenti look. Was behind a friend who VHT his tail lights and it was so dim, even at night I almost ran into him. Never again.

@Carnewbee
Yep, VHT will reduce light output so keep that in mind if you choose to tint your tails more than 20% darker. I'd also recommend that you apply a few layers of sanded clear coat on top of the Nightshade to give it a professional OEM look (unless you want a more mattelike finish). Alternatively you can order vinyl tint film in various shades to get an idea of how dark you want to go. @Bluebatmobile sells them on the board. |

Thanks for responses. I blacked out the housings and then night shaded the outsides with doing two light coats on the face of tail lights and an extra coat or 2 (can't remember) around the glass/plastic. I thought it turned out good and the light was still clearly visible while being shaded. Surely it would work the same on the Valentis and would just give them a little more black in colour.

Thanks bluebatmobile I've been thinking about it and tossing up ideas and think I'll go with the night shade but instead of shading the face of the tail lights, just do a couple of coats around the face to darken it without reducing light emitted. Thanks for help
