Using Carista App
Ive ordered a Carista Doggle to adapt to the OBD2 port, so I can add/delete factory options on my fiances car. Does anybody know if this app will clear CEL codes? Or does it just read them?

It can clear them as well, but only the paid version will do this not the free version

I could've sworn that customizations were $20, I've had this app for like 2-3 years now and paid $20 once so I can change settings and it was totally worth it. Also with the beta version I have, you can register TPMS sensors if you have them in another set of rims

Im just interested in the clearing of the CEL codes function. Im running catless UEL exhaust and I have the notorius CEL for being catless. I drive 35 minutes to work daily. Having the CEL on disables the Cruise Control and I hate having to pedal the throttle to get great gas mileage haha.

If just for that .. i'd think more of getting normal ecu tune via ecutek or oft, to disable those CELs AND get bigger performance boost out of catless header.

What IceFyre and Churchx said is important running with the P0420 CEL constantly coming up is kind of annoying, so you might as well get a tune, that way you can actually pass emissions and such, and make more power.

If you disable a code, will the emissions scanners care, I always assumed yes, and planned to go to the oem tune for the test.

IF you go with the OEM tune it will fail because the scanner does multiple emissions readiness checks in a short period while the car is running and it will throw out the P0420 code even if you cleared the code out before the emissions test, and the scanner will notice the catalytic converter is well below performance (gone in fact). If you get headers you should get a tune regardless, and your best bet if super worried is to swap on the stock headers for emissions testing if super worried with the OEM tune, in fact that's the only way the OEM tune would not throw a catalytic converter code, unless you had the OEM rom and edited out the P0420. @steve99 can probably elaborate

I feel like I might be derailing this thread but.. I have the OEM header still and have been running e85 tune with the code disabled, but I planned to switch to OEM tune for the test, which I have never done one just yet as it hasn't come up. I was under the impression though that some scanners would know that you're supposed to have 2 readiness sensors b/c of make/model, and if you disable one it would know. This suggests that Disabling the readiness sensor code for the header wouldn't trip a test though? or is this a question dependent perhaps on the tester?

Your not disabling any of the O2 "readiness" sensors This suggests that Disabling the readiness sensor code for the header wouldn't trip a test though? Your only disabling Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) not any of the codes related to O2 sensor voltage so it wont trip the test because the obd2 tool looks for readiness by making sure all the sensors are functioning and I think you only get 1 not ready on there scanner, which at least in my area is enough for a pass

Its my understanding that you can disable the cel codes for say P0420 but this wont make the readyness show good as the sofware in ecu that checks the actual signals not just the cel set on
even ecutek does not force redyness checks to good, it probably a legal thing. to pass readynes with cat codes disables somone would have to hack ecu software. we dont have those checks where i live , but i am told that some states allow you to have one readyness check in not ready state and still pass. torque app does the readyness checks not sure if carista shows them generally if you disable code P0420 you will disable cel light and the cruise control will still work with no primary cat , but the readyness check will show incomplete for that check and some states may still fail you. the guy running e85 tune on a completly stock car should go into the e85 tune as reenable the P0420 cel code, as he still has front cat P0420 should not trigger and with code enabled the readyness will pass. |

So be careful when the app invites you to update. Previous pricing made this utility a sensible choice for personal use, but I wonder if the developers are overestimating the value of what they offer. I also can't find a change log that might explain (i.e., justify) the new prices. |
