Still dangerous to remove rear window tint and peeling the defroster lines?

I recall hearing about the danger when removing rear window tint that the defroster lines might be lifted and ruined in the past. Is this still something thst I should be concerned about still?

I have a high mount brake light thst I'd like to install but it requires using double sided adhesive and in the case that it melt off in high heat and take the tint with it, I just want to know if I should even proceed with this mod.

I'm also curious about this. I'm considering buying a BRZ with tint that I'd like removed.

Guessing from past experience, the double-sided tape would give out long before the tint. That shit is on there practically for life.

Are you saying that removing the tint risks hurting the defroster?

I got my rear tint redone when I relocated my 3rd brake light. The guy doing the tint warned removing the existing tint could mess up the defroster and asked for my consent before proceeding. It ended up alright in the end.

Is it expensive to replace the rear window if the defroster is damaged? Guessing it is.

I've been thinking of removing the rear tint using a steamer, would that mess with the defroster?

I very carefully used a heat gun years ago. It was awful because it left behind all the adhesive. Still had to follow up with a razor.

I'd rather be interested in some DIY mod of adding extra defroster lines to top area where relocated brake light is . I'm not sure how much/if lower Intec's sits, but Wheelhaus's is above existing defroster lines and unfortunately it is fogged or frosted for long after rest of rear window is clear. Then again existing lines won't be damaged due mount of that brake light (and it's doublesided adhesive strip being above them).

Use a garmet steamer to release the adhesive, take your time and it shouldn't cause any damage. Try to pull the tint off in the direction of the defrost grid.
