"BETTER to drive" does not mean MORE power than the Supra. My 2020 86 is better to drive than my 2010 GR STi Cobb Stage 2 was, hands down. I do miss that turbo punch tho! |

If we’re really getting a factory turbo for the next gen model, I will upgrade in 2022.

You're welcome Forum Again should still be more HP (around 280) and the Subaru version will be the only one to offer a turbo version. Toyota version will not (for now) Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk |

That report sites zero sources except a “report”. Furthermore, they even say they themselves, “Autocar understands” it will use the TNGA. Why do they “understand”? That leads me to believe whatever “report” they have was up to interpretation and that’s what they are interpreting it as.
It could all be right, and it could not. Everyone has been speculating the FA24 since it rolled out into the ascent. It’s not new speculation. We shall see. If Dave-ROR is accurate on when production is kicking off, we should see something this year. |

Can't say much on this matter... but I'm not looking into next gen 86/BRZ. A lot of engineers and staffs were laughing behind the back of Tada-san and other staffs thinking it's never gonna sell. Now it sold like crazy, higher up and other ppl want something out of it from next gen 86/BRZ and adding and killing off characters. Not 100% sure Tada-san is part of 2nd gen project either, he might be assigned to different project.
...but hey, take this as a grain of salt. I'm not insider, so I only know limited info. |

Now, what is more frustrating is when a publication deliberately publishes unconfirmed information by leveraging click-bait titles and fancy-made pictures, well-knowing the internet will think that's the real car and all those speculations are fact. Why is this? Because it gets them attention. It's also because the general public doesn't understand the nuances of semantics, nor do they care enough to really read something to call BS. Autocar very thoroughly covers their asses, by referencing a vague, non-specific source; and by leveraging terms such as, "so Autocar understands," "Autocar understands the car is likely to retain," "Both brands may wish to retain," "Toyota and Subaru will also want to improve the aesthetic." They even reference the pictures as their own renderings. But as we have all seen over the last 36 hours on the forums, on instagram, and on all the internet publications this story has been run as FACT. As I said, it could all be factual, but without proper source validation, or even the publication identifying a probability/likelihood scale, it's still pure speculation and their choice of words reflects just that. No offense, but your credibility as a source is about the same as some random individual walking into police station, FBI office, or embassy claiming whatever they want. Without proper validation of your connection to your source, and that source's placement and access, the general collective has no basis for trusting your information. In the age we live in where control of information is to the control of the hearts and minds of the public, true and validated information is critical, not speculation hidden behind nuances and weasel words. End Rant. |

Apart from already old FA24 speculation, your OP literally contained no other details contained in the Autocar article. You said nothing about TNGA (which is also old speculation at this point), the name GR86 (that is new), or anything else. No offence, but nothing about your post suggests insider info. Also, your original claim that... Quote:
If we apply some common sense, the most likely scenarios are: 1) Both the BRZ and 86 share the same turbo charged engine 2) Neither of them are turbocharged, both remain NA 3) Both are offered in two engine grades, a budget NA base version and a more expensive turbo variant. |

Looks like the Supra 4 cylinder version is going to have 192KW (257hp), which is very near the FA24 turbo motor power output. I’d say a FA24 turbo in an 86/BRZ would be unlikely if this is the case.
https://www.motoring.com.au/lighter-...tailed-122430/ They’re quoting Toyota, not saying a “report” or “inside source” etc. I assume this is the 4 cylinder Supra spec. |

Official view of division 7 from the "Ministry of public enlightenment and propaganda" is.....the FA24 and its gearbox will fit easily into my 2017 86.
And..... I will need no additional parts to install the AVO turbo currently residing with my FA20 onto the FA24 if it only comes NA. My insider is "Paul Joseph Goebbels" so you know it's true.....
