2017 Toyota 86 Baseline Dyno vs OFT Stage 1
Hello Guys!
As many of you know I have been working on getting my car to the dyno to get a baseline before I started to do mods to it, and in that time I got the OFT and decided it would be a great chance to see if the stage 1 does anything so with out further wait here are the results with explanation below: So run number 1 is with the bone stock car on the bone stock tune. It made 177HP and 140TQ. There was a run number 2 also on the bone stock tune, but was in 4th gear to see if that would do better than 5th or not, it only made about 171HP so he stuck with 5th. Run 3 was the first with the OFT Stage 1. He was light on the throttle at the begining of the pull to make sure it wasn't going to pull timing because of just flashing it (we did let it idle for about 2 minutes and went up through the range slowly). Here we see a peak of 181HP and 141TQ. Run 2 is the green line and has the worst dip because he wasn't full on the throttle (take a look at AFR ). Then finally we had another OFT pull that made 179HP and 139TQ on run 4. Run 4 is the Red line. The main point of today was just to get a baseline before I started modding, I knew the stage 1 wouldn't make uber amounts of power, but I was hoping for something in the dip area, as we can can it made maybe 1-2 ft-lbs at the 3500-4000 range and again from 5000 to 7000. And on the dyno, the commanded AFR and the actual AFR actual look really close compared to when I log on the road in 3rd the commanded being 12.12 and the actual being 11.02.

Thanks for sharing this I think this shows the 2017 tune is already pretty optimized as the gain on stage 1 is less than on the 2012-2017 models. The gain you see is within the margin of error of doing back to back pulls.

I'd be interested to see what the stage 1 put down after driving the car a couple hundred miles after flashing.

Take a look at the fuel trims in the logs... It's not like there's some magic dust that rains down after you drive on a tune for a while, you have to let it idle for a bit to learn the fueling and then going light throttle through all the rev range is going to sort out your fuel trims as evident by the log.

Yup my plan is to move to STX next year, but I really want all that power first (Yes I know suspension will be more competitive lol) but I want a little more oomph on the street so I'm going to probably go tomei UEL, perin OP, and Concept G.
Once I get everything in place at the end of winter I'll dyno again with the same place to see what kind of improvements the 2017 can make on the OFT Stage 2+

Based on your experience, I'm inclined to believe you, but if there was no fuel trims, and I was hitting my AFR targets, then what would more learning do?

logs show after about 7100 the commanded afr goes from about 12 to 10.6 (and the measured afr follows that so it doing what its asked) . You can see the big step in AFR here
http://datazap.me/u/jermmx5/2017-toy...20&tmax=291.21 If that AFR continued around 12 all the way to redline you would probably pick up a few more hp, although it not an area you drive in a lot. assuming knock didn't start but would make the "gain" look better. looks like a soft rpm limiter stats to cut in about 7400 as the ignition timing drops off sharply after that Last edited by steve99; 08-17-2017 at 04:51 PM. |
