Engine bay cleaning?

Does anyone here clean their engine bay on a regular basis. I've never really done it on my previous cars and didn't really care to. My view on that changed since I picked up the FR-S

Being in Arizona we get dust storms pretty frequently which can get the engine bay pretty dusty. I was curious what products you guys use if any and if you have any tips to pass along?

I rinse with water then spray autoglym vynal/rubber care on the wet engine and close the hood. Turns out amazing and almost to easy to do.

303 Aerospace is not in retail stores (AFAIK), but it's totally worth ordering.

I would really consider chemical guys. Can't get them from the parts store but they have solid products. For the engine bay get nonsense to knock the dirt off, then some silk shine for that dark black look

Simple Green undiluted will eat aluminum, paint, and dry out rubber. Even diluted it will do much of the same.

Stick to an actual "engine degreaser" as they won't damage anything (plus they work better on really greasy engines).

Most of the time though, you simply need water and some spray detailer as it's mostly dust under there.

thanks for the tip, never knew that, i usually dress some areas with a tire shine or something similar so ive never really noticed it drying out

ive been using some small wheel whoolies to get down into the small areas,
took the battery out to get behind there really well

spent a good hour or so cleaning it up
