Airbag light trick for racing seats.
Warnings: 1)Always disconnect the battery when dealing with Airbags. 2) I am not responsible if you damage your car or yourself during this install I am assuming if your doing this DIY you have already figured out how to remove the seats and disconnected the the battery and the wires connected to the seat. First thing you need is a Resister with a resistance of 3.3 Ohms. [ame="http://www.amazon.com/3-3-Ohm-Flameproof-Resistor-Pcs/dp/B0002ZP0US/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346546875&sr=8-1&keywords=3.3ohm+resistor"]Amazon.com: 3.3 Ohm 1W Flameproof Resistor 10 Pcs.: Electronics[/ame] Locate the yellow harness . You will notice that there are only 2 wires connected to the harness but are 4 holes (sorry the picture doesn't really show it, i'll try to get a better one before Install the seat tomorrow morning), you want to plug the resistor into the bottom two holes. No it does not matter which side of the resistor you plug into which hole. See no light Please let me know if I am unclear on anything as I may have had a few beers before writing this :happy0180:, though this is pretty self explanatory and hard to screw up. Also I am just going to use electrical tape to secure it for now, later I will find the other end of the connector and solder the resistor to that, and insulate it with shrink wrap. Minor point - the resistor has a resistance of 3.3 Ohms - not impedance.

I'm thinking worse comes to worse. Does anyone know if the airbags will deploy if the wires accidentally detach or resistor fails?
This looks like a great and cheap alternative to the TRD option that will come out soon. |

I am not sure about it still deploying with the airbag light on. I do know that this trick has been used for years and I have never seen a resistor open. |

I could see it being reasonably cheap if they sell it without the seat rails |

Airbags will deploy with resistor installed (all other airbags in the car). And if you get short on the wires (if your resistor some how goes 'short') airbags might deploy. So secure your resistor pretty good...
