Engine sound?

Anyone know the sound? I know it sounds like the crickets but it's much louder . Usually starts when car is warmed up. Very metallic scraping sound and very loud.

All I hear is DI for days. Did something change, or have you been afraid to start the engine?

The clatter? Probably some combination of direct injection/valves/AVCS(VVT). I had this concern on my new vehicle too, turned out to be nothing after an inspection at a Toyota dealership. If it sounds like a tractor (as in your video), it's probably fine.

To me, it sounds like an FA20 engine running.

sounds sort of like an old Yugoslavian, 4 cylinder, diesel tractor -

I'll have to take another video. When the car starts and runs for a few min it sounds normal then a completely new sound comes in. When I tried to record the video I stopped recording right before it started so i dont have a good comparison. I'll record another video tomorrow hopefully catching the normal sounding and when it changes when its warmed up.

Also side question, the video doesnt do the best justice but should crank pully have a wobble to it ?

When I look at it running compared to the rest there is definitely some type of wobble going on.

Like I said, that's direct injection. The engine switches from port, to direct injection when it idles. I was kidding earlier but I am surprised that you have only now discovered it.

I've had the car for 4 yrs now and have never heard that noise before the video doesnt seem to pick the sound out at all that I'm talking about. It's just a horrible metal scrapping noise. And it follows the rpm range. But is very noticable at idle.

No, the crank pulley shouldn't wobble. From your video, it doesn't look like it is wobbling to me -
