My saga continues. I've acquired a set of T6 sensors from Tire Rack and some 225 Indy 500s. Hard to believe spring is already here. My tires will ship sometime in late April, supposedly. Going to have Discount Tire program the sensors. I will report back!

I really liked the indy 500s for a daily/mild track tire when I tried them on my rx-8. Nice and quiet/comfy on the street and held up to well to track use.

Finally, success! For the first time, ever, my car does not display a TPMS warning - huzzah! T6 Tire Rack sensors and the 2021 Camry setting did the trick. Discount Tire was unwilling to program using the Camry settings (got a grumpy associate that day). No matter, I was able to perform the TPMS program at home.

And just as a reminder... Which tool did you use again? I would want to buy the same one, so I don't have to reinvent the wheel. |

The TS501 is $199 on Amazon, but they do offer periodic discounts. I got mine for $174 with a $25 instant coupon.
Also, Autel hasn't released an update for our cars as of August 1 so the 2021 Camry is still the workaround. |

Does anyone know where I can get rubber seals (or a "rebuild kit") for the T6 sensors?
I was transferring one of the sensors to a new set of wheels, and my tire shop told me that one of the seals doesn't look very good (cracked?) and they suggested replacing it next time I do a tire change on that wheel.

I've always just let the tire shop deal with it, but a generic metal valve stem TPMS rebuild kit should be fine.

Also, now that I think about it, Toyota rebuild kits for cars that use the same sensors should work as well? On parts.toyota.com, 04423-0E010 "fits" latest Camrys, Corollas and Avalons, but GR86 isn't listed.

Wow... 9 pages of issues to try and fix something which is normally so simple. This is the first car I've owned with TPMS which requires a programming step with a specialized tool and/or dealer intervention. My previous VW and BMW simply took a couple button presses to synch things up.
Anyway... The whole reason I landed on this thread. Next season I'm going to run a set of dedicated wheels/tires for autocross. My initial thought is to skip TPMS sensors on that set totally for the sake of simplicity and cost. Based on what I've read here, the worst that happens is you get a small warning light, correct? No other issues with the vehicle, i.e. won't allow track mode? |

modern VWs are nice in this regard because they just use the ABS sensor to determine if you have a low pressure tire. the sensors are fiddly and unnecessary imo. |
