Speaker issues.
So i have had my FR-S for about 2 months now. Within the first 48 of owning the car my passenger speaker blew out (or at least sounded like it had). I took it to the dealership a week or so later showed the tech the problem, he instantly said that yes the speaker was in fact blown and would be replaced under warranty. A week later the replacement speaker came in and they replaced it. Well now less than 2 days later the EXACT same speaker is blown out again.
I am talking about the door speaker on the passengers side. EQ settings are moderate at best. Bass 2, treble 3, fade and balance set to Middle, ASR high rate, ASL medium, SSR feel, interface USB, mode FR-S. So i am not BLASTING bass through them. The volume is typically around 25-30 on the highway and 20-25 in the city. So today i will be discussing with the dealership about upgrading my base system to the premium system for free because of the hassel. I feel as if the problem is in the Amp or the wiring. What do you guys think? |

Its possible that its an amp issue but do you feel that its louder coming from that side? If not I dont see the amp being an issue and it would probably be just an isolated speaker problem.
I would recommend you break-in your speakers for at least 15-30 hours before turning up the volume. I dont have a FR-S so I dont know how loud the 25-30 setting is but if you dont properly breakin speakers they can be damaged. |

Sounds like it could be a short in the wiring and since it has been replaced once already it is likely the wiring at the car end as opposed to the speaker end...
Otherwise it could have chafed through somewhere on the route from head unit to speaker and that is causing the issue. Or you have a loose terminal on the speaker / wire and it works its way nearly off once you have been driving around a bit... |

Today they are claiming that it is a door panel issue (the window switch) i kind of doubt that, and if it is then the techs are really dumb for not seeing it when they replaced what would have been a perfectly good speaker.

Yup! All speakers and headphones have a break-in period. They don't produce their true sound quality until their broken in.
How does the window switch have an effect on the speaker? Short circuit? |

not enough insulation underneath it and it causes it to rattle. there isn't apparently a whole lot of insulation or sound dampening in the doors so now toyota corporate has been called in again as of 5 minutes ago. We will see if they decide to be decent and fix the issue.

My passenger side speaker start to rattle the third day. I didn't go over 35 at any time. I think my issue is also the trim panel. It rattles and i don't hear any popping or cracking to make me think the speaker blew. I do plan to upgrade speakers but I would like the rattle fixed before i messing around and get blamed for the rattle.

At first I thought I had a blown speaker, but turned out it was my door panel rattling. See the following post of someone else who had the same issue.

I wish I knew how loud exactly you were playing your music...
20-30, that's super load in the BRZ Canadian spec Head-unit anyway... I have it on 10 and that's already blasting my ears.
