Track: Thunderhill West
Car: BRZ
Mods: 17x9 245/40/17 RE71R's, Bilsteins w/ custom springs, Strano FSB stock rear bar, RR Racing front and rear brake kit, some aero bits, TRD intake + muffler (no headers or tune)
Notes/Comments:

Had my first track event since 2002. I've done probably 50 autox events since then, so my skills have improved, but the interesting thing was getting back onto the track was like riding a bike... Within a lap or two I remembered exactly what its like

Anyway, I'm really happy with the car, my suspension work has paid off with a car that is very neutral. Doesn't plow understeer and doesn't snap understeer, it just goes. I could use more camber in some corners with camber plates, but I found the loss in ride quality for daily driving wasnt worth it so I'm sticking with Group-N tophats.

The RR Racing brake kit works very well, minus the brake noise with the BP-20's. I could out-brake everything out there especially with the RE71R's, which are just as AMAZING on the track as they are at autox! Ambient temp was around 95 degrees.

I recorded Torque app with Track Recorder, but it didnt work on my new phone for exporting, I did check my coolant/oil temps and saw that my oil temps did just fine with the Forester/WRX oil cooler I use (~250 max) but my coolant temps got quite hot to around 210-215. Probably need a larger radiator for sure.

Power wise, I was VERY disappointed... So much so I'm contemplating buying a much much faster car. EVERYTHING pulled away out of corners and in straights, even the Focus ST I followed for awhile. I have been contemplating a Edelbrock or Harrop Supercharger, but tearing into the motor is something I'm very hesitant to do.

Anyway...

SORRY about the crappy vids... I tried a new mount with my new phone and it was awful. I use the Torque Recorder with the Torque PRO app and normally it works great, this time it was crap Going to have to try something else...

You and me both, on the power front. Not sure I want to deal with all of the issues of FI on track. That's essentially $10k to do it right, and that's stock internals... I love the car, but man it's really depressing catching every friggin thing through the corners and watching them disappear down the straights. Or even more lovely, they finally give a point by and don't lift... It's great fun when people come up to you at the end of a session and poke around the engine bay looking for the turbo. The look on their face when they realize it's NA are fantastic. That is probably my favorite thing that happens at the track, it gets serious respect running down Corvettes and STIs and the like

FWIW my car with header/tune and a bunch of other mods is a LOT quicker than a stock car in a straight line. I'm not sure which is worse, spending a ton of money to gain ~20hp at the wheels and still watch other cars drive away, or being stock and even slower.

Putnam Park with 10/10ths Motorsports on June 25th 2016

My fastest lap, 1:24.590:
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjVtfuaJ_3Q[/ame]

I let my buddy take it out for the final session (while I drove his 2003 Howe stock car, which was quite an experience) and here's his best lap versus mine (lap timer is a bit whacky since the external GPS overheated and disconnected earlier in his session):
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYK0ENU5MCc[/ame]

A full session, with a silly black C6 in my way a lot:
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_OvPVncDJA[/ame]

Loving the car even on a more open track, besides the complete lack of power compared to nearly everybody else there. Driving the stock car did not help those feelings at all... 500hp or whatever it is sure makes the BRZ feel like a dog.

That was last year with AZP, still on my Direzzas.

I'm pretty sure I saw you up at Watkins Glen yesterday with SCDA. I recognized the car but every time I walked over to introduce myself I only saw the car there. The only time I did actually see you was when we passed by each other in downtown Watkins Glen. Oh well. Nice to almost meet you. LOL

I was only up for the one day. It was really kind of a mixed bag in the intermediate group. Most people were doing alright but there were a few guys, who were woefully off the pace and just causing 4-5 car trains to pile up behind them. It's really inexcusable in an Intermediate group on a track that's more than 3 miles long with tons of passing zones.

I actually thought about talking to Elivan after the 3rd session but I only do maybe one or two events per year with SCDA and I only had one more session to go so I didn't and don't want to make waves but I think I'm going to push to move up to the advanced group the next time out with SCDA if it's a track I'm familiar with. The last time I was at Watkins Glen in May I went with an open passing group. I was probably one of the slowest cars out there (but to be fair, probably one of the only road cars) but it was a very different experience. Out of 4 x 30 minutes sessions yesterday I only had one SINGLE clean lap. When you're mixing it up with cars that have double, in some cases close to trip your horsepower, it shouldn't be like that.

This was my FL from July 18th at WGI. It's almost 2 seconds slower than my best lap from May. Still getting some moderate push although it's better than it was. But I was down about 2-3 mph top speed with the high humidity and warmer temps.

Nice driving, thanks for sharing! Sorry I missed you, I looked for you a couple of times also. We had only a couple of cars that created trains in the advanced group but great pace overall. Followed a couple of fast Miatas to learn some tricks that worked well for my car. I'll be at Palmer this Fri-Sun with NASANE. Hope our paths cross again soon.

Track: New Jersey Motorsports Park (Thunderbolt)
Car: Toyota GT86 (FRS)
Mods:K&N Drop, TRD exhaust, TRD Lowering springs, TRD short shifter, Stock Prius tires and wheels, W2 Winmax pads and G-4 335 brake and clutch fluid.

For some reason i just noticed this sticky topic. Anyway I actually have a video of my first time out in intermediate. I did terrible. Which is good, such a great learing experience. Second session I did much better but the last lap the Prius tires gave up. I was able to hold off an EVO that was behind me 2 full laps and a Shelby 3-4 seconds behind the EVO. . I thought I was holding them up but I just plain out turned them in the corners. The driver complained after but if he cant handle keeping up in the turns I'm not letting him pass. So I feel better now. Looking at the video above I was able to verify what happened. The guy got upset because a Scion beat his car in the corners and I out braked him too. The pads and fluid made late braking amazingly confident. I went off a few times by missing my braking points but after that It was all a learning experience in the second session. I need better tires. I am buying a house so I'm trying to work out the budget for tires. lol

Video of my first ever Intermediate session. Stock tires gotta go. I understeered and got 2 wheels off twice. In a year this will be a great comparison video of my improvement. I took this session slow since this was my third track run ever. Critique all you want it's a starting point..lol

You're not racing. If there was a time during the session that he was not right on your tail, then later in the session he was right on your tail, he is faster than you. Again, you're not racing. Give him the point by. You'll find everyone involved will be happier and friendlier with each other. If he complained that you were holding him up you probably were. It is not a contest of speed. Consider it a contest of courtesy and track etiquette.
You'll enjoy the beer at the end of the day much more with your newfound friends.

Well tell him it wasn't racing..lol I would be faster in the turns, never got a blue flag. He caught up because I was letting some cars pass I got to a no passing zone so I couldn't let him pass. He was too far from me anyway. from then on he just couldn't keep up in the corners. I was pointing by a lot as you see in my first session. He shouldn't complain if it's just to have fun. He was sanctioned. I wasn't. So I'm in the right.
